Olivia Fergusson signs for RCD Espanyol in LigaF.
It will be interesting to see how she goes there, Liga F is quite a high level so I wonder how much game time she will get

Surprised to see him still involved in the women’s side of the sport considering the rumours from his time at WPW!

Aye? Do you feel he is better suited to coach mens teams? Does he give em too much hair dryer treatment at half time like Fergie?
Mr Worldwide has grown back his hair. That was a terrible look last year….

I was hoping Tanaka would've been kept. She promised quite o lot in her limited time on the pitch.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Fraser still not playing for Utah
Any insights on the story?

Posted some comments in the Macey Fraser thread (Kiwi Players Elsewhere), that came via Niche Cache via her coach at Utah. Her coach's comments a bit vague, but there is apparently some personal stuff going on that's a factor.

Since Utah paid a six figure transfer fee, so they may not let her leave on a free, if she is looking to leave. Racing Louisville did a loan deal for Miley Clegg to the Canadian league. Pity something similar couldn't be arranged for Macey F.

Would the Nix have to give some money back to Utah if that was the case?

Could be a loan arrangement.

Why?, if the contract was terminated then it was down to the player and Utah - would have nothing to do with us.

Besides as mentioned above it could be a loan back to us.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Another player over hyped (as per Clegg),  signed in the US top tier that can’t get game time.
Are they just not as good as they are made to be or is it the US sporting
culture etc that does them in?

Katie Bowen (arguably the best kiwi female player atm) went from being a bench player (hardly ever getting game time) in the NWSL to a regular starter for Inter Milan in Serie A female.
Grace Wisnewski similarly went from US hardly used to top tier Denmark. Just scored for her club in a UCL qualifier.
I suggest there is some local bias in USA. But fair enough, its there competition.
If Fraser does move away from US. It will be very interesting to see how she goes and where her career leads.

Players like Fraser and Clegg need game time, and they have had next to none in the last year or two.

Ive no idea what reserve grade/practice games they play, but they aint playing enough football I suspect.

Miley Clegg has played 13 games (941 mins) for Halifax Tides in the Canadian (Northern) Soccer League this inaugural season for zero goals & zero assists.

https://www.tidesfc.ca/halifax-tides-fc-player-stats

Halifax are pretty shark though. Last with only 10 goals in 17 matches.

Yet she will be named in the next Ferns squad and those there after for years to come because she scored a goal at both an U17 & U20 WC against some random African or Asian team?

Clegg scored that great goal against Japan for the national team.
But yes no goals or assists in Canada is not great reading. I see in the last game she was an unused sub after being a starter up to this point.
I remember not so long ago many on this forum were screaming for the axe to fall on Wilkinson and the so called old guard. When younger players are introduced they do need time and patience is required.
Yes Clegg will be selected for the next Ferns squad. But there is also now a bit more pressure coming on that striker position with a few more attacking players having pro contracts.
Although Jacqui Hand not exactly setting the world alight now either,  playing for third consecutive team that are going to be relegated from there respective competition.

Clegg scored in the Ferns last game as well a win over Venezuela.

The Canadian League will likely be a decent level, only 6 clubs and Canada has been consistently a top 10-15 side in the womens game.

Still yes hopefully she breaks her duck up there soon.

Copied form the Utah Royals FC facebook release an hour ago:

Utah Royals FC also announces the mutual termination of contract with Macey Fraser allowing the midfielder to pursue other opportunities.
Arriving to the Wasatch side from Wellington Phoenix Fraser appeared 9 times across two seasons with the Royals, earning four starts and logging 400 minutes with the club.
During her time as a Royal, Fraser received a call up to New Zealand’s senior 22-player squad for the 2024 summer Olympics and made her Olympic debut but was forced to come off due to injury in the Football Ferns’ opening game against Canada.
Fraser received her last call up during the February FIFA international break, featuring in both matches against Costa Rica. She started in the first game ending in a 1-1 tie against and recorded the game-winning assist off the bench in New Zealand’s 1-0 victory.

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2025/09/20/newcastle-jets-sign-new-zealand-duo-to-womens-a-league-squad/

New Jets head coach Stephen Hoyle, who is a former women’s coach at Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs and an assistant coach with the national U-17 squad, has added midfielder Olivia Page (20) and forward Charlotte Lancaster (21) to his roster.

Page will join the Jets from English club Sheffield United, while former Wellington Phoenix player Lancaster has most recently been with NPL NSW side APIA.

Hoyle has made five pre-season signings, of which four are from New Zealand.

He has signed Football Fern and former Wellington Phoenix forward Kelli Brown, Football Ferns goalkeeper Anna Leat and Canberra United’s goalkeeper Georgia Ritchie.

Just haven't signed any other visas atm, so I would assume the 4 Kiwi girls are filling their visa slots.
