I really hate when people conflate signings with announcements
So... we have fixtures for the Nix Women, the squad leaves town in just over a month, but we don't have any players announced yet?
Another interesting comment in that interview for me was Dome saying the 7 Australian player rule was only in place for the next two seasons and that after the 2023 world cup, that would change and likely be same as A league rules over eligibility.

Will be interesting if Longo is in the playing roster given her nzf role

In this case, however, at least as of lunchtime on Thursday September 23, I'm fairly certain there are no unannounced signings either.

FYI - by my math the current 17 man A League Mens squad has 11 Kiwis.
But Womens A League with 10 teams (as opposed to 12 in the means comp), probably currently has more Kiwis (7) at other clubs than the Mens League.
Anyway semantics, and number of Kiwis is likely to be pretty similar over both comps. Though really there should be less in the Womens with a max 18 player squad, and 2 less teams.

The week slowly slides by, And the silence continues with no announcements around the Nix ALW team. Can I take from this that all is not well between NZF and the Nix on coming to agreements on setup. Or are they finding it more difficult to tie down coaching and player contracts than what they expected. Or maybe they are putting there time into preparing for a big announcement with much fanfare and a big sponsor reveal for the team.

They've said things are tough and they're struggling with MIQ for both teams including hinting that they can't bring over their preferred coach for the W-League.
They probably just don't have anything to announce yet and I'm sure they're more frustrated about that than we are.
To be honest, with the issues we're facing and the limited build up, I'll be satisfied if we're last but competitive and have a solid foundation to build upon for next season.

NSW talking opening up there borders next month. Not sure what that means for MIQ into Sydney for fully vaccinated non Australians. Ferns also have games at end of the month in Canada. ALW doesn't start till December. Are there maybe a few players like Longo and Stratford they trying to to get to Canada then into Aus? Who knows? So difficult to make plans with certainty in this current environment

Pre Xmas very low chance of non Australians entering Oz, and avoiding 2 weeks MIQ. Travellers from NZ likely the exception. You would hope 2 Nix teams entering NSW would have some type of soft quarantine/bio security bubble arrangement, allowing them to train upon arrival.
QLD are just trialling home quarantine for interstate travellers (you still to apply for an exemption to enter QLD from VIC & NSW), and will be months before that's rolled out for overseas arrivals. Though NZ-Aus will loosen up sooner, ie TT bubble reopened.
Ferns in Canada will be sans any ALW players.

The Wellington Phoenix are set to make their first announcements about their inaugural A-League Women campaign next week.
NZ Football chief executive Andrew Pragnell said this week a final agreement was in place and Phoenix general manager David Dome said on Friday: “In the next seven days, we’ll be making some announcements”. It is likely they will begin by naming the team’s coach.

The Wellington Phoenix and New Zealand Football (NZF) are excited to announce the inaugural coaching staff for the Club’s first ever A-League Women’s team.
In consultation with NZF, Gemma Lewis has been chosen as the Wellington Phoenix A-League Women’s Head Coach, with Natalie Lawrence serving as Assistant Coach for the 21/22 Season.
Lewis and Lawrence will join Canberra United as the only all-female coaching staff in the A-League Women’s competition, with Lewis being the fourth female Head Coach named in the 10-Club league - the first time in A-League Women’s history that the competition has boasted that number.

Still, any coach worth their salt is going to be targeting mid table as a mark of success, even with the short time frame and lack of prep time. You'd expect there will be some early learnings, but you have to be looking to not be the worst team around.

Mods... you think it might be a good idea to open its own group for the womens team? much like the Mens team. As we get going, I can see there being multiple subjects relating to the team and the league itself.

Geez, after reading the article, I'm very surprised that they aren't alot further down the track with there organisation than they are now about 1 month after officially announcing a team to enter the league.
Sounds like they are still a way off finalising nz squad members and are only just applying for exemptions for players and coaches (including Lewis I presume) to leave Auckland. Tough times to be doing all this I guess.
That being said it is pretty exciting seeing this come together, and even with a young NZ (mostly) team, It will be really good to see them test themselves in Aus. I do hope they recruit some experienced heads in the team to give some leadership, and lay some foundations for the future.
Edit. Stuff article has been updated. things sound a bit more promising with player recruitment. Here is some more insight from Lewis about proposed playing style.

The Wellington Phoenix @aleaguewome's team is expected to announce some signings this week. Sounds like they have a heap on board. Gemma Lewis today: “I know some squads have announced up to 15-16 players with a few more to add on but I don’t think we’re too far off that.”
