News - Change of venue for women's upcoming match

The Wellington Phoenix’s round 15 Liberty A-League match against Newcastle Jets this Sunday has been moved from Maitland to Newcastle due to a potential extreme heat.

Probably a good idea. Forecast for Maitland is for 40 deg C on Sunday while Newcastle is for *just* 34 deg. No matter what will be a tough away trip in the heat

Just looking at the points table and if we had been more ruthless with 1:1 chances and some referee decisions had gone our way and we had won 2 of the games against lower teams we could’ve been 2nd on the table. We are pretty close now and it’s awesome to reflect on the progress since our debut with Captain Lily a short 2 years ago. Up the Nix!

It'll be interesting to see how Fraser approaches this game as she didn't register a single shot on goal in her 68 minutes against Canberra. That was unusual, so I wonder if she's been told to focus on being a play-maker rather than a shot-taker since her goals-per-shot for the season are only 0.05 (i.e. 20 shots per goal). Better to look for a teammate than to repeatedly throw away possession by shooting from 26.5 yards, which is her average shot distance (FBref.com)

Fraser just needs to find a balance,shes a big threat round the box. Just needs to cut out silly stuff.

Yea what’s going on with Brown? I thought she was pretty handy support earlier in the season.

Good for us though as you get the feeling this game will slow down drastically  in this heat as the arvo wears on.

Poor defending from the Jets though, the turn beat three and ball bobbled into her path, she couldn't miss!  

how good is Cox's direct running. She can almost always create space for herself and has the ability to take on players. Love to see it!

Very high turn over rate from both teams. Feels like whoever makes the least errors overall will win.

McMeeken looks great when she has the ball at ehr feet and is running past the opposition.

Rolling the sleeves is a little different to removing your shirt.

our midfield is absolutely shocking atm. No one holding on to the ball. Even Longo is taking the wrong options.
