So awesome, someone has just contributed to the Give a Little and we have now reached $3,500... We have come a long way since wanting to get $100 for one family to come to a game.

That was KG19. Thanks KG

Nice, thanks KG19.

We have also just had another $200 given if I read it rightly by Molly's and are now at $3,700

Good news, have heard from Ronald McDonald House in Auckland and looks like we will have a family for the away "home" game.

I will probably meet the family at the park as I'm not doing the 12 pubs this time as I'm going to be taking my niece to the game up there.

They will get the tickets, scarves and food. They just miss out on the Phoenix Lounge and parking as I don't think there is carparking at Eden Park. However I have offered to cover the costs for family to get to the game and back on transport or if they park near the stadium.

There is no parking there and the traffic wardens are as lethal as the ones in the Hutt.

Cheers, didn't think there was so will cover families transport cost if need too so they can attend.

So family has been confirmed for the game on Saturday, apparently the boy gets discharged from hospital that day and the family is actually from Wellington. Mother used to be involved in Football here too, so maybe as the boy gets better and they come back to Wellington, they could become Phoenix fans.

Edit: just realised I will be sitting with the family this time. I have gone for family section as taking my young niece and brother and just checked the tickets and the RMH family will be the row and seats in front of me. Guess I won't be swearing this game... Shark!

So was a nice change this time as got to spend some time with the family. The boy was six years old and had a lung condition and some other stuff as well as being special needs. He seem to really enjoy himself and did a lot of yelling. Family is actually from Naenae in Lower Hutt and mother used to play as well as the granddad.

Message from the mother "It was a premo game, thank you so much. My partner n grandfather thought it was really funny the amount me n alekai were screaming lol. I had a great night n so did he thank u YF so much, was a great stress outlet"

From RMH:

"Thanks to everyone involved in this effort and giving to our families in their time of need. For our families getting out of the House and having a game to go to like these can really make their week or month.

Wishing you and the Yellow Fever crew a safe and fun festive season. Bring on the sunshine"

I went in and dropped off stuff for family yesterday. Didn't get to meet them this time though so will be relying on RMH to have it sorted

Nice work Yakcall hopefully this is helping grow support for the game and the club.

Also I'd like to think that my wearing of "Din at the Tin" t under Season 3/4 Away shirt is responsible for our good run of form at home since after Rnd 1, but it's more likely the attendance of the RMH family.

Yeah it's great what we are doing for the families, but a good bonus would be them talking to friends and family about the experience and them hopefully coming back and bring others.

Sorry this is kind of a repeat but I thought this was really nice. Heard from my regular contact this time and got sent the below about family from the last game. "A HUGE thank you for the tickets and all the goodies for Alekai and his family – they had a GREAT night at the Football and loved every minute of it – they just couldn’t believe how generous you were and just were so blown away by the experience. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and care – my guess is that they are a family who don’t get to special matches like that so thanks!"

Time to start talking about the family for Hutt Rec?

Have we asked for tickets for the three games?

Wouldn;t want it to sell out and we forgot to reserve seats for the families for those games...

Nearly all handled! Got the tickets for each game, they will have something similar to lounge passes as well. For food I was thinking I'd just give them cash since won't be able to do vouchers so the only thing left is to organise parking as there won't be any at the game.

Was debating calling the two local schools when they re-open and see if they plan to offer parking for the games and get one saved for the family that we will cover.

Last time I saw they had yellow/black ones for sale. Don't think they were Nix created ones, just those colours.

Feels like so long since I have updated this, going to be so glad when we are back.

All sorted with Ronald McDonald House, will be going in next week to give the family the scarves, tickets etc. Will give them cash for food at the game and have just sorted parking at Sacred Heart College for the family as well.

(If you are interested, need parking and want to support Sacred Heart for doing this, they will have parking to the public I believe for $10)

Not 100% sure what we will end with as there is still things to pay for with the remaining games, but there will be left over for next season and this to continue!

Just wanted to give an update. We have a nice situation for RMH in the fact that they have no families at the moment. So I hope others don't mind but I've suggested the support staff use the tickets and have a good day enjoying the Phoenix this weekend!

I did think about contacting another charity or looking somewhere else but I felt the staff at Ronald McDonald deserve it too and who knows, could turn into Nix fans and attend more games. I'd say this will be a once off as it is the first time they have not been able to find a family.

Great call Yakcall, the staff there definitely deserve it for helping us find families every week.
