yeah that lightbox partnership doesn't seem to have amounted to anything.
Maybe because it runs out after this season they want to secure the rights before committing to anything. I think some people are right, sky will go ridiculously high with their bid (and pay well more than it's worth) just to screw with coliseum.
Classic monopoly tactic, use the rest of their business to subsidise the crushing of competition.
It wouldn't surprise me if their subscriptions fall, we were having this discussion on Saturday after our game, and of the 17-18 guys there, around 10 of them have PLP and most said they actually watched it less this season than ever and weren't keen on a $50 increase as all had been early adopters, and most said they doubted they'd sign up again.
It doesn't strike me as a great way to look after those who took the plunge with them in Season 1 (and 2).
I just love it when a Spurs game is the featured game on TV1, as the kids i get up and watch the game together, forwarding through bits of it as we don't always have the best part of 2 hours to watch a full game and they won't sit through the entire 90mins.
Since PLP the kids and i rarely watch a game, i sincerely hope SKY get this back and with the promise of their new online service (the upgrading of the set-top boxes) beginning soon they may well be able to offer what PLP do now.
