THE Newcastle Jets' marquee position is vacant after the club confirmed on Wednesday that Venezuelan midfielder Ronny Vargas will not be retained next season.
The 32-year-old creative spark is one of six players alongside fellow import Jair, Wanderers-bound fullback Daniel Georgievski, home-grown utility Nick Cowburn and fringe players Kwabena Appiah and Jake Adelson to be released.
Talks with in-form striker Roy O'Donovan are continuing and the club is confident of retaining the Irishman.

I imagine he will be taking a pay cut, but getting two years out of it, not one.

Surely having a laugh, there's no way the A-League could afford an EPL regular international striker in his prime years regardless of recent injuries.

In the build up to the City/CCM game last night, they said that Western United was chasing Birighitti to be there starting Keeper. Maybe they have missed out on Kurto & he is heading back to Europe instead?

have either been officially announced?
Mark Reason's latest article says similar things as well. Either he's got an inside source that no-one else has, or he's making the assumption that they have both signed on the dotted line 100%.
Interesting that Reason also says that Singh's and Rudan's relationship had 'deteriorated' towards the end of the season, but I'm taking that with a rather large grain of salt.
