so happy we won - 9 unbeaten and heading to Auckland with a real chance of grabbing the last spot in the finals series.
Hope Reno isnt too badly hurt. No idea how that tackle wasnt a yellow, and then the next attack that ginger git made on Hemed moments after and then finally the late, studs up challenge on Sotirio - all three yellow card worthy, the last one could/should have been red.

For what it's worth I'd be getting Tomer Hemed here for a full season next year, he's scored 9 in the last 12 games. sure it took him a while to settle, but then so have most international players, with a proper pre-season behind him and being match fit he could be just what we need to lead the line.

I know it has been covered here already but how the hell did Sicky Gordon get to stay on the pitch. Two red card offences and 1 yellow one. Sharktiest refereeing I've seen in ages.
But hell, what a win; we can win pretty, we can win ugly. If we make the six we could go all the way.

Super happy with the 3 points.
Can someone explain how Gordon's studs up challenge wasn't a red? That was a ankle breaker and Sotirio was lucky not to have been injured.

Hopefully Gordon is no where near the A league next season. I don't know his contract status but we don't want grubs like that in the league.

haha yeah, but how did VAR not get involved? It seemed clear cut. Genuinely curious as that was far worse than the red's we got for Ball/Rufer.

From memory VAR did have a look, and they decided on a yellow. Commentators mentioned mitigating factor could have been Sotiro actually having his foot off the ground when Gordon caught him.

Of course that should have been Gordon's 2nd yellow, and game would have been easier from that point for the Nix. You could actually make a case for Gordon even being sent off in the first half. Definite yellow for Piscopco tackle, and marginal taking out Hemed near the 6 yard box.

Arms & VAR had a mare, when you throw in WSW's goal which should have been disallowed. But I also wonder just quietly if what Taylor does at attacking corners is totally legal. He made Margush's life hell, and wondering if some refs would pull that up, when Arms let it go. But yeah the combo of Taylor's antics, Lewis's delivery and big Hemed at corners looks a winner - keep it going.

And still wonder if Robinson if he keeps his job, would look at signing his old Whitecaps keeper Marinovic. Apart from the corners, Margush was very good - but Robinson clearly not happy HT/post match with WSW conceding soft goals. Moot point if he's shown the door.

I thought having his foot raised was only really mitigating in that it reduced serious injury. His foot being raised made the fact that Gordon made contact with his shin with studs worse, cos it meant Gordons boot was raised higher than it should have been to effect a legal tackle.

Gordon should have received 3 yellows in that game, each tackle he made that was called for a foul should have been yellow carded. They were all cynical, all late and were nowhere near the ball.

Taylor can stand wherever he likes at set pieces, as long as he's not off side. He's generally not making contact with the keeper, in fact Ams warned the keeper to stop pushing Taylor at one point. It's not Taylors fault that Margush is shorter than a 12 year old.

Classy, gutsy win. One for the highlights reel.
WSW are flat-track bullies. Ziggy Gordon is a complete hack.
Kurt Arms should never referee an A-League game ever again.
Re-sign Hemed.
Our destiny is in our own hands.
You Jaffas need to turn up on Sunday....

Remember, Ziggy Gordon is the guy who signed an extension with the Mariners at the end of last season to stay for this season, talked about how much he loved the club and the fans, then before even playing a game, decided he could do better at WSW and terminated his contract. No surprise he’s a dick, but jokes on him, Mariners heading for home final while Wanderers get nothing

Anyone notice the fact that this was the lowest attendance in A-league history? 990 was the official attendance put forward by WSW.

Bit of worry these low crowds when Straya is open unlike Europe.   A League management must be privately quite worried.

But there seemed to be no RBB at all. Strange for an all stakes must win game for WSW. Was there some sort of fan protest against Robinson going on?

Sure they ain't angels, but the A League needs passionate fan groups like the RBB in some form. When they had The Poznań going in their golden years, it looked electric. Without them the league will continue to diminish in value/profile.

If they want crowds, they may just have to play most of the games at ROF.

Interesting, the site that I looked at said 990 but maybe that figure is incorrect. It certainly seemed like a non-existent attendance from the TV.

Griffiths-Jones was the VAR man, That explains a lot. He's as good as Ams on the pitch and off it too. Take that as it was intended. The Nix beat 13. 1 team and 2 incompetents.

really? 1.87m is 6'2", yet compared to Taylor (also 1.88m) he looked tiny.
in that case he is just shot and I have no idea why he is an a-league keeper.

To think had we not played so poorly against them, we could be looking at a top two spot, not just squeezing in to the playoffs.

The Nix never do things easy, its like  bloody Hollywood film here sometimes.
