our tactics require clever ball movement between the wide midfielders and the front line to work. in the last 2-3 games, things have been breaking down prior to the ball reaching that phase. for example, central options for mcgarry behind the two strikers are a little slow to arrive. things tend to break down here and we end up going over the top, if anything.

we've executed this formation and these tactics very well over the last two years. i think we've lost one yard of ball pace/execution time with the drop of player quality and we've lost another yard due to a lack of confidence. two yards lost means that we're not getting the ball in to a wide guys in the pockets just outside the 18 yard box and if we do, our shape is wrong.

i wouldn't be surprised to see talay tweak things up front to counter this, by playing a number 10 behind a lone striker as he has done in the past.

the cure for confidence is a little harder to implement however, especially with such a young team.
