I was very impressed with Sam Sutton last night. He looked every inch the consummate professional.
Pennington played well - normally ho hum on him, but he made a series of good intercepts and moved the ball. Only one brain fade.
Sutton is the best LB in the comp. Good feet, good cross, but also good on D and surprisingly strong.
Add Ball and import striker to that forward line and try picking four starters... good position to be in.

Kraev looks like he's got a heck of a lot of pace in his legs. Composed vision in the box too. Perfect pass to Kosta for the goal.
Most pleasing part of last night was seeing Kraev track back and defend.
We only had a short look at Sasse and it it was fresh legs vs tired legs but he seemed quick.

This was a great performance.
Solid defending, hard working midfield, quick transition forward and efficient in front of the goal. We had all their 'dangerous' attacking players in the pocket. We could not ask for more.

Sutton likewise, just gets better and better.
Was pretty impressed with Elliot on the other side too, showing a bit of the player he looked before the failed stint in Greece.
Waino and Kosta could prove to be a pretty dynamic front two.
Kraev clearly looks like he's got some class, good physicality, good touch on the ball, surprising turn of pace.

I want to see us win by scoring that 3rd goal. Waine and Old had their chances. I want us two up with 5 minutes to go, retaining possession and the opposition giving up the ghost. Or just holding them out. Not so many nervy holding onto a one goal lead for 50-60 minutes.
I enjoyed seeing Kosta work with the pressure taken off him. His second spell here he was under the spotlight and was the main guy. Here we’ve got quite a nice ensemble developing and he doesn’t have to be perfect all the time, some of the time may be enough!
Wondering how Uffie is going to keep us fresh through a disjointed season coming up, as well as manage our midfield and attack so that we get full value from everyone (or if we do leave someone out we win the league comfortably!)

Old has so much to improve but he's an excellent player anyway.

27/28/30/31 August were the dates set down for this round of the Cup. If we progress 10/11/13/14 September are the next set of dates.
Great build up for the season proper especially getting competitive games against other A league teams.
