We've just moved back to NZ with our 2 year miniature Dachshund, Mustard. Being a Dachshund, she is a stubborn little so and so, but she is great fun. We are in Auckland, so expecting it to be different for most people on here, but how do other dog owners get on with things like day care and dog sitters? In the UK we'd send her to day care once a week, where they would come and collect her in the morning, and drop her home again in the evening. We also had a fair few people who would take her for walks or look after her if we wanted to go out for an evening. It doesn't seem as common over here.
Also, are many bars and restaurants properly dog friendly? Most that we have been to are ok as long as the dog stays in the smoking area.
We have a French bulldog, 5 years old. Pre lock down and working from home he went to The Barking Lot in the central city, it has chagned ownership now so may be better, but it wasnt flash. Basically a concrete cave with no light no outdoor space. During lockdown we were obviously home 24/7 so he loved it - being an attention seeking little so and so. Noi we are back to "normality" but we are home 3 days a week. So he gets monday to rest after a usually busy weekend and spends 1 day at a private doggy day care in Brooklyn.
Dogs are beautiful animals, currently don't own any but my favourite breed is a Beagle. Also, I don't care what people say, Courage is the best cartoon dog ever. :)
Anyone here used Care for dog sitting? Wife has organised someone from there to look after Mustard on Friday night but it all seems a little vague. I assume that there are some checks and security in place for people offering their services on the site, and we are not just handing our dog over to some lunatic.

they look pretty legit, provide au pairs and house sitters etc.

Where you living?
My local area has a private community facebook page. Granted, some of these can be pretty terrible. But even in Auckland ours is small enough that it's fairly positive and friendly. People offer dog sitting services, baby sitting services, good place to get recommendations etc.
