I'm in the bolster the defence camp and think Niko Boxall would be the path of least resistance. Although if the door is open for another attacker now that Waine has left surely Losagga's time is now.

I'm sure you jest but the squad already has 5 visa players. Maybe a month ago, Sasse could have been let go early, but that ain't happening now.

Within the club there seems promotion options in the front 3rd - Karunaratne, Bidois. More minutes OVH. Jackson Manuel got 5 games (1 start) last season.

But in defence last game against Perth there was no CB cover on the bench with both Surman & Payne out. Presumably Rufer would have to slot in there in need.

Yeah, that bridge is well and truly burnt. He will pop up in the MLS I'm sure.

Good age and experience.

Yipe Barba's back at the Nix, and his departure last time was worse than Boyd's.

But I imagine the Nix will hold zero attractiveness to the American. If he doesn't stay in greater Europe, it will be the MLS.

Boyd apparently has interest from the MLS, Turkey and Liga MX. Yes he’s changed his association but could we have two Kiwis playing in SA?

Disagree. Boyd was a double betrayal with the club and country and a general feeling he was too good for us. Kosta was an overhyped marquee.

OVH has looked like he’s got something when he’s been given time.

Old apparently back for Sydney, according to press (AV I think). Sutts might be late for the plane, but could be available to play.

Did Brian Kaltak ever trial or have interest from Phoenix? Arguably the best CB in the league right now.

Also anyone aware of any other talent in the islands? i reckon its time to have a proper look at these guys.

Nikko Boxall signed for Auckland City... interesting.

Wonder if there's any chance we can do a deal to sign him after the Club World Cup? But not hopeful tbh given past fractured relationship with ACFC

Oceania paid for him to trial with us a few years ago. He just signed an extension with CCM until 2025.

Cannot believe we didn't sign Kaltak that's crazy! He will get Central Coast a good sale fee at some point for sure.

Nikko Boxall probably on more at ACFC than minimum A-League wage so unlikely he would come to us.

Interesting he does make mention if bringing another player it would be a defender. Which they are looking into.

He's 29 and would probs have to spend a few seasons at A-League level to drive enough interest overseas and by then he'd probs be too old for clubs willing to pay a fee. But a big missed opportunity for us as he came to NZ in 2018? so he could've got citizenship after playing a season with us?

Yes is a missed opportunity in a way. Was handy in Krishna's last season having him as a non visa player.

But really the problem is ALM not having a non visa spot for OFC (non NZ) players. Would be a nice boost for the Island teams.

Marley Leuluai is the son of League player Kylie Leuluai. Picked up football while his Dad was playing league in the UK. Currently in the Man City system. Zero chance of him coming here for a while.

Tyler Schriver (spp). If Kaltak can make the leap to ALM, maybe he could to.

Talay is quoted as 'speaking to the Board' (Welnix). I take that to mean it will have to be a cheap signing. Or maybe they need to do some succession planning if there has been some overseas interest in Sutton or even Elliott (UK passport). I'm sure Welnix wouldn't mind selling some more young Kiwis, for some useful transfer fee income if they can.

So a new LB or RB signing with a longer term outlook maybe. Just upgrade Adam Supyk to a senior deal even.

Niche Cache had Jack Henry-Sinclair as RB in it's 'team of the season (National League)'. Bilingsley not in 1st XI, 2nd XI or 3rd XI selections.

Noah Bilingsley was playing more forward the Chch United this season so doubt he’d be an option on the defensive end.

Options limited in a way, as has to be a non visa local signing, and is the off season for NPL and NZ National League players. So honestly could take a while for anyone from that pathway to get up to ALM fitness levels, and then the season is over.

Obviously there is Niko Boxall, or is there some Aussie up in Europe now a free agent? Nix look okay for LBs but I see Michael Zullo hasn't signed for the Roar.

I would have thought 'going to the board' only happens when you need more money than has been budgeted for. Which would mean someone who costs more than Waine's salary.

Transfermarkt has him off-contract at the end of the season, so unless there's an extension that isn't known about, anyone's free to negotiate with him right now
