I really don't think we are even moving backwards in terms of results. I think we are more hovering around that mid table area. The longer we are consistent performers in that middle table as a professional club it is really just a matter of time before we have a really good year with some small factors going our way and we'll win something.
I thought that overall ALM is a much better league than people paint it. We have to keep improving as a club (as we have, overall, over time) to stay in touch with the playing standard and squad depths. I am more concerned about playing squad depth than about our first XI.
“Shalke 04 will sign Pierre-Michel Lasogga on a one year deal. However Lasogga will only play in the second team of the U23, which plays in the 4th division.”

I mean that was our downfall this season. Our bench was weak as piss. Probably compounded by no real plan B tactics wise.
cant see it being any better next year. Guys will be older and wiser so that may help. Anyways as every year ill wait and see...
It concerns me we don't have a backup for Zawada. Waine gave us okay depth there but was never replaced. I've said that a few times and will probably keep saying it until we get at least one other ALM quality striker.

We don't have a backup - yet. Plenty of time in the off-season to get one

The new manager already said he's happy with the attacking players though. I don't think striker is where another visa spot is going to be used and there aren't any local options I can think of who stand out.
I think signing Kosta was meant to bolster our attack depth but we effectively only gained Zawada for the loss of Piscopo, Sotirio and Wayne (in terms of effective goal-scorers).

Maybe Chiefy sees Kraev as amore of a scoring option for next season?
Not really sure about this source I guess they keep up to date with NZ players overseas and can translate Spanish. And it could be interpreted as returning home would be NZ but could just mean the A-League.
Nothing is known about the future of Marco Rojas after leaving @ColoColo. In a recent interview, the coach of the Chilean team says that it was the kiwi who decided to end his contract to return to New Zealand. I hope @WgtnPhoenixFC stay tuned as that would be a great signing.
Home has always been Melbourne since he left NZ the first time. I'd expect him to return to Victory if anywhere in the a-league.

Yeah I think most expect him to return to Victory but I also wonder if Victory will be that interested iirc he's still a visa slot for them? also turning 32 after the season starts maybe wanting a longer deal than a year? There could be a few factors that could sway in our favor.

Also this is what, the second or third source referring to home as New Zealand? I know he is a New Zealander and those sources may just be inferring that home for him is New Zealand but maybe we are losing something in translation or they know something we don't know??
I become more positive that he might choose the Nix each time these sources keep saying these things. At the same time though we shouldn't pay mega bucks for him, Rojas is slightly past his best (definitely not as overdone as Kosta which is good).

The Google translation is actually very accurate. For my money the comment reflects the fact that THEY refer to him as a Kiwi regardless of where he wants to go now (which is probably in a "general direction of home").
Really don't think he has his eyes set on us, however I'd gladly take him back. Though the return of the Greek prodigal son hasn't really worked out that well to be honest. Hopefully, should Marco choose to return, he would make more of a positive difference to the team

He might no longer be a marquee player for Victory but I'm sure he's still import quality.
Rojas may indeed be worthy of a visa slot for Victory, but they may easily look for other options to improve their fortunes after the forgettable season. However, Rojas might be happy to accept an average offer from Victory just to get back "home". With all due respect, Wellington would not cut it for him anymore.
He is a current Kiwi international though so should still warrant some decent dosh in terms of salaryanaveragestem

We should have bit of wages freed up from Sasse, Lewis, Sail and Ugarkovic leaving and the two signings we've made so far would be on around the min salary. But depends if we're gonna use a lot of that budget on a CB.
I for one would welcome a return to the halcyon days. Imagine if you told the yellow fever in 2010 that in 13 years Barbarouses and Rojas were still coming off the bench for only 20 odd minutes for the nix. The full circle narrative that no one asked for
I know an import CB is still our primary target but it is possible we can fill that out with decent locals Adams and De Vries. But Penha (ex Newcastle Jets) has just become available and he’d be a huge upgrade on Sasse. He’s most likely looking at a return to the A-League id say so will be a bit of competition between other clubs.

Neither Adams nor De Vries should be in the same ball park of whoever our import CB turns out to be. That might be a tad hyperbolic, but I don't think either of those two would make our defence markedly better without also adding an import. And that's coming from someone who would like both to get a go at the club
Hope it’s Marinovic. You always want to see good players playing football and it’d add to the intrigue for the season. Can’t be any of our academy? It’s Tony Warner?
From what I understand, Greenie is on standby to step in if Chiefy fails.
I don't know if that will be any better but I think it will be interesting to see how the coach goes for someone who has not played football. Reading a book is not the same as actual experience

Matt Acton, so a bust on that one.
GKNIX, what kind of bloody useless hint was that from Brisbanes graphic design department?! 🤣
Chelsea is making so many bad financial decisions lately that we might have a chance. Just tell them that we'll feed him and they'll be happy. Losing only 30 mil or whatever on his salary is a good business decision compared to some of their other ones
