Bar being out of position which lead to the first goal, Payne has been very good today. I would say he has been our most dangerous player. His work on the wing has put Kosta to shame.

I think Kosta has been good this season but he's passing it too much in the box instead of trusting himself and shooting.
The Negative: - The attendance, was hoping for 10k - Slow, lethargic start (again imo) - Atrocious crossing and sloppy passing - Unnecessary fouls given away
The Positive: - Only the 1st defeat of the season - The subs were great and brought a lot of energy - Yellow Fever was vocal/supportive until the end - RESPECT - Strong finish, just unlucky it wouldn't fall for us
Next week we'll see what we're made of. What's the response going to be? I take tonight as a good learning curve, for both the youngsters and the coach.
Thought the ref was particularly good. Didn’t buy Reno’s theatrics. Reno especially looked like an idiot after grabbing his head with minimal contact when compared to Zawada a moment or two later.
The ref allowed play and a contest in the middle of the park and didn’t give a soft yellow that might have seen a more cautious game. But he was consistent and even handed also so what could have been full of needle and resentment flowed.
We haven’t made the Jets doubt themselves. We do and they’ll crumble.
But also- we cashed our luck other weeks. Paulsen saved two pens, had two cleared off his line and others cleared from close range. Today they got there first. Maybe twice. We didn’t get our attack right. And maybe Chief got a little out coached. He’s a new coach with teams adapting to his system. We’ll see.
One goal with 15 to 20 left though… the Jets could easily crack.
That was sharke and definitely felt like one of those days . Nothing was working and the fact that Payne hit the post with his awesome effort summed it up. Subs were generally good, and as someone else said, on another day we’d had got something out of that. Fudgeing annoying though. Hope zawada isn’t too injured. What was the attendance today, they didn’t say it at the stadium?
Did they not announce it at the ground ?WanderingSheep

On tv looked 7-8k. would be surprised if it was below 7 but certainly expected more. Win against MacArthur maybe big crowd against wanderers. I’m sure it’ll be a good game regardless. WanderingSheep

Don't think they announced it, but I agree with others who've guessed around 6k.
You reckon? I thought it was on par with the Brisbane game but I was sat elsewhere. Shame regardless.

Very disappointing from the Phonix. I don't have much positive to say about it. Old and Ball tried to make things happen when they came on. The performance was as poor as playing in black at home, god the Phoenix do some dumb things at times. Newcastle much the better side, fully deserved the win without question.
that was just one of those games, nothing worked, we had all the posession, more shots, more shots on target and getter accuracy with the ball. Any other day and we win that by 2. Just one of those games unfortunately, their keeper was on fire and ours made a mistake which cost the second goal. It's the aleague and still 20 games to go.
We really need to move to a purpose-built, rectangular, stadium of ~10k capacity. I know I'm flogging a dead horse here, but the cake tin is just awful for watching football.

Agree we need another stadium but fail to see why 10k is the figure thats always mentioned. Nothing in our past suggests that is what we should be expecting as an average turn out. Yet again the Phoenix fail to deliver when returning home after a good run of form. Frustrating that over the years this has become the norm. Those sorts of performances do nothing to convince casuals to turn up to games.
Could argue that this has been working to our favour in the first few weeks.. how many games do you earn a point when you have no shots on goal and the opposition has over 10 like the Victory game? Looking back, city should have earned at least a point by having a ridiculous goal line save and a penalty saved.. these things come in circles.. in reality the only convincing win was the roar one, even then they created double the chances we had theprof

I don't think it would look so empty with those multi coloured layers of seating like at Napier. The bright Yellow empasises it. Mind you, at T20 games, it really looks empty, because it is! 100 people max. And it was for Cricket that this design was chosen foremost.

Pricing has a lot to do with it. Yet another dead horse being flogged. Until the Stadium trust stop being so self centered and greedy, it will remain a mostly empty stadium with very few exceptions. At least a 10k stadium rectangle with rounded corners, would look more full AND give fans a closer view of the action. They should have built it right beside this stadium and made use of the rail system. Too easy I guess. League, Union, & Fottball would have been a very happy bunch. Glad to see the Rugby giving up on Sky, good job.
It will be interesting to see how the team react to this loss. They have kept their feet on nthe ground thus far, but losing that game is a reality check. I think they will bounce back. This squad has the most backbone I have seen at the Nix yet.
