I reckon if they want to stir up some controversy and get people really talking about the club, they should announce this as the club name and badge:
I came up with this as a joke a few years back but when you think about it, it kind of works as a team name because no one can beat Auckland Traffic. Auckland Traffic always wins.
Of course, this is just to cause a stir. The real team name, logo, and kit would be announced a few weeks later as:
• Name: Auckland City Thunder FC • Colours: Blue (for Auckland) and black (for NZ and the Foley group) • Pattern: Approximately 53 upright triangles that represent the 53 volcanic centres of Auckland. • Home Ground Pre-Match Song: Thunderstruck by AC/DC. • Home Ground Post-Match Song: Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.
And as an added bonus, one could argue that 'thunder' often occurs on 'black nights'.
He's done well enough as the #1 so far, if they were interested I'd expect them to be paying for it. Also can't see him being rash enough to look to leave so early in his starting career unless it was to Europe or a team in a bigger league.
I mean Sail is not up to the task. Paulsen gets transferred to some other club of Foley and then loaned back to Auckland FC. I would do that if possible.
What happens if Auckland try to get Paulsen? Nothing suggests he is up to the task.
Someone's been smoking crack their Saturday lunch time.

Really thats some imagination. Cant see this happening given the Phoenix have just resigned him.
"…the priority right now is the players, to get the right mix. The majority will be New Zealand boys, obviously a few Australians, and some foreigners, to play my style of football. We need players who have won stuff before, but also with the right attitude and the resolve to win trophies. We’ve identified players from the (New Zealand) national league, especially younger and scholarship players."
Regarding foreigners: "It’s not about the names to me - it’s about who will fit in with the style of football I want to play, which is quite an aggressive, fast game. So we will be looking for foreigners in that department, and marquee players for that as well. In the past the A-League has had marquee players like Robbie Fowler, Alessandro Del Piero, Nani and Daniel Sturridge - some have done well and to my mind, some have failed. I’d look at players like Bobo who may be unknown to people but have been very successful in the A-League."
Rest of the interview is more wide-ranging/Corica specific and less about the specifics of what is happening with Auckland FC*
* Placeholder name, article gives no clues about the team name
1) it's talking about "fan meetups" or "a pub on the waterfront" as if those were things to be organised by the club, rather than fan initiatives; 2) they're still seriously trying to push "Black Knights!"
The Britt and Chamberlain are pretty ideal. Very close to Britomart Train Station too They look to be a similar vibe to the bars I see in Fever posts for pre games/12 pubs
The Soul Bar definitely ain't suitable as a gathering place for the Auckland Ultras. Yes it's more a restaurant, where you are more likely to spot a high end real estate agent or Shortland St 'star' or Auckland Phoenix grazing on $20 Bluff oysters than footy fans. https://soulbar.co.nz/bluff-oyster-day-2023/

Just filled mine out. What a load of bollocks - It sounds like they really want that name though....
If they go with the 'Knights' or 'Black Knights' name then I don't think I could take them seriously.
Geez. He actually owns a bunch of high class restaurants.
Some of the other ones not listed above are not cheap
Yeah he took over Nourish group he also owns Shed 5, Pravda and The Crab Shack in Wellington think there might also be restaurants in Taupo and Queenstown, He renamed them Foley Hospitality.
The Chamberlain was quite a decent pub iirc. Drank there several times. Not many other pubs on the list though!
Though that’s how US sport has gone- high end corporate and personal entertainment packages, so maybe there will be some kind of tie in with the football and a meal in one of his more fancy pants places.

What I want- a genuine grassroots fan movement of with a cross section of Auckland football fans organised and spoken for by the club…
Gosh, I hope it’s Black Knights now. I mean there’s so many ways to take the piss out of it. It’s uncomfortably close to all those secret membership organisations, particularly in the southern states who might be horrified by the adjective in the name. (Though Kiwis might be bemused at how American college fosters all kinds of different ‘special secret societies’ ahead of clubs. ) It kinda approaches the Crusaders too, but coming from a more religiously fervent country of origin, which doesn’t make it hugely inclusive.
Then there’s the way most black knights in stories are bad guys.
And surely the most well known Black Knight is the one belonging to Monty Python’s Holy Grail, which is a tale of absurd overconfidence: ‘You’re a looney’!
Lastly neither the colour or the image has much relevance in Auckland, NZ which didn’t have a European style feudal society of oiks in metal on horseback and references that period sparingly. Though to be fair, the US is also a New World country with a similar historical lack.
On the other hand though, I mean the Breakers doesn’t mean much either, so if they want to brand their team and organisation that way at least it will have a strong meaning for its owner and his group, and then they’re likely to hang around and get others on board, and it will lose most of the other meanings, or they’ll be less relevant if the team plays well.
And it would leave the Nix up 1-0 already in terms of the best name and make it easier for me to justify not watching or attending all the games I can..!

Do you think it’s all McFlynn’s own work?
'Fan-ness' 'Soccer'
Nah, there's definitely a yank pulling the chains on this one...
Hows the ultras up in Auckland going? Growing in numbers? Won't be allowed in the cake tin only allowed to sit and eat your hot dog here
Are you suggesting that the Wellington stadium dont allow fans to stand and chant? YF attendees would disagree I expect. I would assume any Auckland FC attending their away games at the RoF would be placed in the standard away bays at the opposited end of the ground where they can stand and chant to their hearts content, and of course enjoy a beverage and hot dog should they choose.
It will be interesting if the proposed "Left-wing ultras" group (along the model of St. Pauli, Celtic or Livorno) gets off the ground alongside a more mainstream active support. I can understand the enthusiasm but it's weird to have self-described commies following Bill Foley's team. Perhaps they should stick to Manukau United
