A few of these academy lads are really stepping up and make themselves look fairly comfortable in the A League. Good on them and I hope they do go on to successful careers. Especially helping the Nix actually achieve things.

LKH, Surman and Paulsen are showing that young defenders can be excellent when given top coaching and opportunity.

It's funny, you forget that Surman is only 20, LKH is only 18 and yet both are regular starters and are largely dominating the opposition defensively.

LKH has definitely been caught out a couple of times when he thought the ball was going dead and then someone has nipped around him and kept it in or whatever, but overall his composure and not to mention the engine for a big lad doing the work up the flank has been very impressive

Hope however, he quickly finds a place at centre back, or on the left of a back three would be ideal. Think he could turn into a gem but can’t see it really long term at left back.

His natural position is CB, so no doubt he is looking at that role long term, however, I think Hughes might be ahead of him in that role.

Good to have options moving forward as I fully expect to lise Surman after the Olympics if not before.

Is Hughes a left footer or a right footer?
