We’re not playing to avoid the wooden spoon and have a guaranteed home semi-final. Or have I misunderstood it all?
Yep the draw is hard to take…but this is not where I thought we’d be.

This attitude is why the nix are one of the last teams in the comp to never win silverware.

One of? We are the last team. Macarthur won the FFA Cup, Western won the league.

Yep you’re right, that trophy history is entirely dictated by a bunch of randoms on the internet.

Exactly.  Unless fans get mad at their team instead of being optimistic to make themselves feel better after a loss, the team will never win.

What a load of tosh. No way do any random posts on an internet forum mean a team doesn’t win anything. This forum has a long history of angst and by your reckoning the Nix have become so attuned with it that they can control themselves to the point of coming 2nd in the league on goal difference - get a grip man….

Yeah sorry, I’ll think more negatively and we’ll start hauling in the silverware.
Man we suck! Down with the Nix!

I didn't know the mentality of fans transmitted to the players by osmosis - thats a new one

Support the nix however you want,  no need to get grumpy at other fans for not feeling the same way. Constantly being negative unless your team is first says more about you than the team though

I feel like this was a whoosh moment.

Getting mad a the team for not winning is an odd one - unless they've played particularly poorly and there are specific incidents that were in fact avoidable or annoying on top of maybe the season being a sharkter.
We are at the end of the best season for the team EVER! with the youngest squad we've had and a brand new coach!
Yes we all would have liked to have beated Jets, but a 1-1 draw aint the end of the world, Chief stuck to his tried and true plan and got a point away, could we have one yep, but it came down to a penalty that went wide off the post! There was millieters in it.

It came down to more than that! Plenty of chances that we'd have finished on another day, Rufes was just the cherry on top of a poor finishing display in what was otherwise a very good second half.

True, we had plenty of chances, but cam up against a keeper who is playing really well and had a good game. He made some amazing saves to keep then in it  - youre gonna get games like that though, you can bang on the door all you want but if the keeper is on form and manages to get a decent hand to every shot you'll come away with nothing.
This is why i never understand people demanding we score 3 or more goals every game, sure we have the capability and if every shot on goal meant you'd score then we'd easily do that, unfortunately a shot on goal does not mean you score, and often a brilliant shot on goal may not even score.

From my own view of the game I have no issue with Rufer's miss as these things happen.  We owe him some support rather than indulging in questioning whether he was the right man to take the penno or not (and yes he was).
The issue I have is the insipid first half performance which may have more to do with the choice of playing Payne, Salas and Al-Taay all at the same time as a tactical choice rather than (injury etc) necessity. That poor first half is the reason we ended up hoping a penalty would make a difference at the end.  Nothing to take away from the Jets keeper - sure he was good - but it is our own disjointed performance in the first half that decided the game, not the amazing heroics by the Jets keeper.

Payne has been a bit average lately. If Surman does leave, I wouldn't be upset to see Payne go back to CB, and Sheridan become the regular starting RB next season.

The young kid looks exciting, if yes very early days.

Oh and I think Chief is still working out how & where to best use Salas. It takes time.

I'd like to see Hughes get more of a chance - looked decent the minutes he got this year.

Well Chief often sets up with 3 CBs on the road. So room for all if Surman goes.

Newcastle on the weekend must have been the first time in Australia for awhile, where Nix started game with a back 4.

Yeah, Payne seems to have hit a little rough patch, but given the season he's had you can forgive him for. Salas is still finding his feet but has done some really good things when he's been used. Hopefully the club look to extend his loan or sign him for longer to give Chief and him a chance to shine.

Should add that if Zawada is playing some of Payne's crosses will suddenly look a lot more threatening.

The Pole basically won the pen against the Jets (if via an undetected shove) off an aerial ball, and his presence certainly means any reasonable cross into the box, has more danger factor.

I would say it is not in the interest of Salas to just have a loan extended. He needs a contract and a timeframe, otherwise it would make it hard to bring his family which is what he has publicly stated he always wanted.
