just posted in your topic TP,

I'm not as confident as you seem to indicate i might be

as i wondered in the arsenal topic - perhaps, just maybe, if we are lucky, God willing, on a good day, if the football pixies smile on us ......

we might just frustrate an over-motivated arsenal side into some errors, if we can hold you scoreless for a while or if we nick one early

i expect i'll spend a fair bit of the game anxiously pacing the floor with the ever-present risk of ducking behind the couch when it all gets too much

on a more serious note TP

Manucho and kilbane will be out to impress early in their time at Hull

the win at newcastle - albeit with a mix of reserves and 1st choice lads - will have lifted the tigers' spirits

on paper you should win, but as someone once said the game isn't played on paper

no doubt SiNZ's bloody machine has us down for a loss

h-t 1-0 to them

started well, but lack a bit of spark apart from mendy's runs and the occasional good ball by doyle/ash

not sure if halmosi has something to give

and in and ideal world we'd have geo with 2 in front of him

still we are well in this (touch wood)

1-1, Cousin scores of a Mendy Cross. Hull playing well now. Arsenal limited to counter attack and Van Pissie free kicks.

well that wasn't really true, after you guys equalised we pretty much dominated from there on in.  unless our counter attacks just lasted 3 or 4 minutes at a time and then you guys attacked for 30 seonds?

what about that shout for a pen with no contact on the ball and Manucho smacked into

i reckon most refs would have given a free kick for that outside the box, so should have been a pen

thought we had a chance when we went to 4-4-2

doyle's inexperience and lack of organisation at the back might have cost us for Nasri's
- though with mendy pushing up we were fairly exposed down our right

arsenal's third possibly offside - but not a blatently as fellaiani's last week

Manucho looks good and Kilbane is a useful replacement for mcshane

but we need points!!!!

Bullard would be a great signing for the tigers i reckon. He's class. Fulham may well start to struggle without him.

From Mirror-Sport:

Quote:
Fulham were reluctant to offer a lucrative long term deal to a player who missed 15 months with a serious knee injury after joining the club in 2006.
Bullard has missed Fulham's last three games through a combination of illness and injury and is not cup-tied.
Manager Roy Hodgson is also understood to have had reservations about his playing style and onfield discipline.
Unquote:

Bullard is a great larker but a born prankster. Would be great for off-field morale but is the kind of bloke who loves life and plays football because he loves the game. Watch some of his antics on YouTube - they are hysterical. Jimmy needs a Manager who can harness his talent, motivate his performance yet allow him some freedom to release his tensions. He does not take too kindly to strict discipline (shades of myself when I was conscripted into the Army) so Phil Brown would most certainly not want to keep him on the pitch at half time for a lecture. For the wages he is asking I would expect Jimmy to toe the line and knuckle down but he will react badly to being abused.

through to last 16  (turner, Ash)

(makes a nice change from the LDV Vans trophy )

no injuries that i could discern

west brom (greening out for a coupla weeks probably), sunderland, blackburn all facing replays

manucho started but taken off at about 62 - saving him for the hammers game i hope

Bullard to make his debut v the club he played for as a youngster (currwent Tiger Garcia was at West Ham then too and possibly Vince Lia )

Well done on the Bullard signing... hadn't heard of him until I went to the UK last year, and they loved him over there! Especially when he came back from his injury and helped save Fulham from the drop. here's hoping he can do similar for Hull this year... don't want to be meeting you in the championship next season!! well, having watched the 'highlights', i doubt i'll suffer through the full match

duke did well, but aprt from the pen save , i would back Myhill to have done as well - for be fair Duke seems to put more work into geeing up the back four

Jimmy B looked a class above in the 30 or so mins he had, great to see him demanding the ball even though we were 2-0 down with only 3 mins left in normal time

great to see us start with 2 up top, i wonder if we'll miss Marlon king's efforts on the pitch

shame West Brom's robinson weaseled out of his red, still we (I) can't pin all my hopes on every team we play having their captain suspended for our match

starting to wonder about these next months

Tigers, unfortunately for you the game came at a time when Upton Park was buzzing with excitement due to the overwhleming feeling that things are headed in the right direction (by players and fans alike)..

We gave Bellers the boot and got twice what we paid for him return, and have made a couple of exciting signings as well.

Commisserations for the loss, I know what its like to see your club in freefall (two seasons ago the Hammers lost 8 straight), but I am confident (and hope) you will be in the top flight next season. Bullard will make a difference and another signing or two in the off season will follow I am sure. Keep the faith brother.

cheers Hammerhead, good of you to offer a bit of hope

i've been keeping the faith for 38 years, so I doubt I'll stop til my heart does

I do think we will survive but this second half of the season will be a whole lot less pleasant than the first

according to some sources, we've signed a young defender from the french 2nd div for 1.8 mill squid and he won't play for us until next season , so i guess the club's senior management fancies our chances (that's a fair few quid for a championship player)

three points v the Throstles would make a nice start to Feb

we rode our luck in the first half coxey, and some most refs would have blown against dawson in the box - if they got a decent look

but in the second half we certainly closed your lot down, Fagan enjoyed his day against Bosingwa

shame for us the Kilbane's header missed and that Fagan had his blinkers on

anyway I'm just relieved to see us inching away from the bottom 3

a good next few fixtures for us

all the best for the rest Coxey -smash some of those cellar-dwellers for us !!

It's going to be very difficult for us to get any points from the rest of our games when we have no strikers whatsoever.
Manucho couldn't score in a brothel.
Daniel is injured yet again (still).
Caleb is sadly not up to this level.
Craig Fagan is injured yet again (still).
Deano is far to busy scoring and keeping goal for Oldham - and laughing his head off!
Marney couldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards.
Geovanni is good for half a game but cannot do it all on his own.
Garcia is far from comfortable at this level.

Couple these with the fact that intensive training is taking it's effect on Ian Ashbee (reported to be injured), Nicky Barmby (in the winter of his career), Boateng carrying injuries, Gardner (just returning but would hardly be match fit) and Zayatte still wondering where he is supposed to play and what to do and you would have to be blind, dumb, deaf and stupid not to realise that we are up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

We have lost King and McShane, Jimmy Bullard was the proverbial 'accident waiting to happen' (costing us 45 grand per week and no insurance whatsoever - a total of 15.3 million quid (35 and a half million dollars) over the next 4 and a half years) and we are unable to secure ANY 'quality' player whatsoever as they simply do not want to come!

Pretty grim I would say.

On the brighter side Turner and Dawson have lifted their game to a level previously thought to be beyond them whilst Matt Duke has not only triumphed over cancer but has also made a return of Lazarus-like proportions like the 'phoenix from the ashes' and resurrected his flagging career to take the Number 1 spot in goal.

This has been the best season in my 63 year support of Hull City and I am deeply grateful to all concerned in making an old man's dreams come true. We are facing a Herculean task in not letting this slip through our fingers.

Blackburn are playing much better football than us - mind you EVERYBODY is playing better football than us with a mere 4 points out of a possible 24.
Baggies are gone for me and I believe, sadly, that we will join them with Middlesborough being the other to drop.
Give it a good shot but without Premier League Players we cannot hope to compete in the Premier league.

I managed to catch a bit of the game this morning (mainly to check out the form of the Croats) and this perfectly encapsulates Hull to me - great determination and passion from players, but they're just not good enough.

West Brom, Boro and Stoke (if Beattie picks up an injury - shame we did not get him!) to go down

hopefully we can outperform that lot or blackburn

clearly, feeling our lack of depth
