Yeah I mentioned this on another forum. For every 'training' match where you want to give young guns a run, you need to match it with a full strength game. And you need to be playing at every window, which we're still not doing. Fuck i dont even care if we only play Vanuatu, if thats all we can get then get it done. Anything.

Looks like Chile have pulled out of June friendly with Oz in Adelaide. An opportunity for the All Whites? A Chch fund-raiser, even?

Doesn't have to be a chch fundraiser. (the game won't be in Chch) But keen for the game to happen!

How exactly is this an opportunity for the All Whites?

Maybe ausi needs to find someone to play?

Auckland will rise once more

Definitely would rather a game against a team from South America than neighbors. I imagine Chile would have a nice expanding affect on young players. Geographically they are further from us, makes sense that their style and attitudes would contrast ours more. More games against teams from afar would be great.

Yeah. I'd been hoping for a game against Chile on the back of their proposed friendly with Oz so had that in mind when I wrote that yesterday.

Have had a decent sleep and no hangover = can think a bit more clearly now.

Opportunity for the AW medical staff if Grella and Cahill play.

If theres nothing on the line regular games arent that crash hot. Every 3-4 years is OK.

Would a game against Australia in Adelaide raise the NZ public's interest? Far better to try and get a team to visit NZ, although I understand that is very difficult. Not much in it for either side IMO, Australia would also be better off playing someone else.
Permalink Permalink

That is predicated on the ability to get someone else. With Chile pulling out, and a trip to NZ unattractive, surely someone is better than no-one.

IMO Aus and NZ need to work together to get 2 teams down here for 2 matches in the FIFA windows that allow it. Allows shared costs, and surely this would be more attractive than a one off game in either country for far flung teams.

A highights package of the last game with some of the heavy tackles, a good voice over... they took out our captian, they tried to take out the rest...they stole a victory..

or something similar... build it up as a grudge match and people will go. Just needs a little marketing and a couple "passionate" calls on the radio talk backs to garner interest.

Could be huge!! plus i just want to see the All Whites play again

Any match for the AWs is better then no match and I concur with some others here...

Aussie and NZ should work more closely together in larger/longer FIFA windows to get quality travelling nations down here as this would dramatically reduce the costs for both countries and negate the finacial risks these matches bring.

Would be a good game .... you have a solid defence and breaking it down would be a good challenge ....

Only trouble as I see it is getting the mainstream media in Australia to take the game seriously mid season in the NRL & AFL ....

Can see it doing good for Football in NZ as well and that is good for Australian Football in the long run...
