No, girls (and maybe the odd boy), this is not about our heroes getting their kit off...

On the news tonight I noticed three of the qualifying teams had white strips: Greece, Slovenia, and Algeria. (The theme continues to four if you count France telling a 'White lie' )

Anyway - how many teams of the 32 play in All White?

Go to it anoraks (SinZ, I'm thinking of you, but spare me the strip history of each team over the last 20 years, right?)

Teams in white:

UEFA - England, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece (of those, Germany's the only one I've never seen play in all white).

CONMEBOL - None.

CONCACAF - USA (occasionaly all white, usually navy blue shorts).

AFC - None.

CAF - Algeria, Ghana (Ghana usually wear black shorts, in fact I can't recall seeing them play in all white, although I think they have).

OFC - New Zealand.el grapadura2009-11-19 20:19:03

Just consider the climatic temps etc in SA around that time. Would want something cool and comfortable for the players to run around in. Perhaps a light greenstone colour, not the Jade that the Cricketers used to wear either. Lonegunmen2009-11-20 10:36:15

Wouldn't think it's an issue anymore with the fabrics they use

A couple of the top teams in Brazil play in black and they seem to get along fine..

Don't South Korea wear white?  I know they did when they hosted the WC anyway.

Keep the 'home' strip nice and clean Nike.

Black away BTW.

It'll be winter in South Africa during the World Cup.

For once, hot temperatures during the WC won't be an issue.

That's encouraging, I would not redesign the home or away kit then. Nothing wrong with the present design, just start marketing them so fans can buy them.

Out of left field idea, replace the fern (Which can be found anywhere in the woirld) and replace it with a Kiwi.??

Something like this, LG? Great minds obviously think alike?

IIRC it's been announced the USA will wear all whites at the Cup, with dark grey alternates.

Yes, just change it to read Football New Zealand, not New Zealand Rugby League. The Kiwi is proudly ours and ours alone!!

New Zealand Football have ALWAYS used a fern, it's simple, classy and instantly recognisable as associated with NZ Sport. Don't change that now. I actually think a Kiwi would look incredibly tacky.

Someone in a facebook group suggested a version of the current man united strip - white with a black v...that would be kinda cool.  Reverse for away.  Similar to the tracksuit jackets the team had.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Do the current strips defintly carry over into the world cup or will new ones be released?

Yeah Botafogo play in black and there is no complaints about heat. Makes no difference.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

How about we try and make our mark at the World cup in South Africa with our football, and our sexy look?

We could follow the lead of the All Blacks and adopt a skin-tight kit that would make it impossible for other teams to pull our shirts.

Of course, we'd need a couple of players with "Dan Carter six-pack abs" to make the tight kit look good and get the right sort of media/crowd attention.

Any suggestions for All Whites who could carry off that look?

Yeah but AB kits also have a lot of sewn in padding. As for using Brazil as an example. Persons born and bred in Brazil are naturally accustomed to heat. weak argument. we're talking about guys that dont play in that sort of heat every week, although the A League players might benefit. Since when has Rory or Killen played consistantly in tropical temperatures.

However, as pointed out, it will be SA's winter. Anyone know what the climate will be like??

New ones will be designed and released.

I'm liking the idea of Vs ala Melbourne and United, but it 's not particularly Kiwi, except of course for our League teams.

I think the home kit definately has to be All White, but the away can be a bit more experimental.

It's been a trend over the last wee while that teams introduce new kit designs for the World Cup.

So in all likelihood we'll have a new one too.

Probably not too different from Australia in the winter.

Especially if there will be new sponsors.  Likely, our audience has increaded a thousandfold.
