Only positive I take from that is Marinovic, Top game from him. Wouldn't even mind him as our number 1 choice TBH

Smeltz scored for All Whites again, bring back Rory Fallon to play center forward!

Norwich City supporter since 1992, New Zealand supporter since 2010 but without Rory Fallon's winning goal against Bahrain, I won't know about New Zealand Football.

#Hudson out!

Can't beat a very very average team that was whipped 9-0 a few days ago.

Chances, but no polish/quality, ability but no confidence & let's be frank - too many guys in this side who should not be near a first XI at senior level for NZ at this stage or their 'careers'.

Forget about managing our National Football team, Hudson couldn't manage a fudgeing McDonalds.

Absolutely raging, can't believe I sat up and watched to this point - If we'd conceded there the laptop would be out the window.

You reckon the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji fancy their chances against us next year?

As NZ Football ever been at a lower point?

Eligibility saga (Wynne)

Failing to front for an appeal (U23s)

On the back of the U23s, we are not going to the Olympics.

Potential FIFA ramifications for widespread player ineligibility (seems to be across all mens teams and potentially womens)

Coaches getting dumped for no reason (Emblen, Gerdsen, Jose and Temple)

U20s playing like ass and picking random players in random formations and positions (It was commented at the time)

Losing to Thailand and now Myanmar (whom just got dumped 9-0 by...... Kuwait)

Have not won in 2 years

Hudson has no friends in the press

I think I've been calling for the wrong guys head. FDJ can stay, Hudson needs to go. Replace him with Emblen cause under him, we looked like we could actually play.

Tonight was larry longball and constant crosses into the box from wide with tactics from a bygone era played without any real pressure on us. We have players out of position, caps handed out willy nilly...

Can this actually be any worse?

He played well. I guess you have to wonder where Gleeson is now. I would say Moss 1, Marinovic 2. Perhaps Wynton was right after all.

Doyle is a CB. I've never seen him look comfortable at wide left. He can't make a pass and his crosses are fairly average too

Hudson always seemed to me like a fraud with good talk, but didn't think he'd actually go this bad. Ok, just a friendly, but friendlies are the only competitive matches we get. These are matches to get us ready for World Cup qualification, with the bulk of that team playing. It's just not good enough to have them playing this badly. I'm actually fine with having some young guys in who may be better in a couple of years, but he can't even get the players of quality working well together against VERY weak opposition. Fiji, Solomon Islands I would give a good chance to beat that Myanmar team, could be close anyway. They'll be licking their lips watching that.

To be fair what do we expect with the team he has picked. You have a number of players who play at an amateur level now playing for their country. Tim Payne has been released from a ton of clubs, still gets picked. Then you have these young lads making their debuts, they might be good for their age but this is the big time. People over the world thinking who the hell is Onehunga Sports! It seems players no longer have to earn an all whites cap, play a game for the U20s and you are guaranteed one.

Seriously for anybody with the time go back and watch how we played VS SA under Emblen, the passing, the movement, the style of play. Then try tell me that that team wouldn't have put 10 plus past Myanmar. And as for player quality that was probably a worse team than we fielded tonight. This was simply inexcusable

1. This is not the big time.
2. No one around the world is watching.
3. Kids or no kids our side should be good enough to beat Myanmar.

Thing is, Myanmar had a number of under-20s in their team tonight too, and we beat their under-20 side comfortably after going down (ok with a foreigner or two in our team but still).

So you signed up to mug for your mates? Did you watch the game? Dyer doesn't even make an impact playing for Sports at NRFL level.

I would expect that a decent manger with the entire Onehunga sports team to still put 5+ past Myanmar

Yes, if you watched the game you would've seen that he came on for five minutes and had 3 chances. And club football in NZ is irrelevant.

Ernie would've had the guys out there tonight playing better football than that...

A moment that sticks in my mind is when Reid had the ball at his feet half way in his own half with no pressure and launched it long. Why? Who is he looking for? Reid is a good player capable of picking a pass so he must have been told to hoof it long by Hudson but why?

Permalink Permalink

Hudson is a quality recruiter of players, however it just doesn't look like tactically hes got the goods to get us out of Oceania let alone to Russia

Its irrelevant?

T-AH-W NRFL

Higgins - CL

Raniga - NRFL

Lewis - CL

Dyer - NRFL

Rogerson - Not even regional football

Brotherton - who knows where.

You have no clue. Keep getting drunk with Tony Porter.

It's probably a little bit relevant, on the basis he was selected for NZ because of it.

Double post, Sorry!

Permalink Permalink

I always saw this as NZ holding the line well, but not scoring many with the squad picked.

Smeltz, yes he's experienced, but past his best. Brockie, he maybe in form for South Africa, but I was shocked at how slow he was to reacting to that open goal.

The only good Striker NZ actually have is Wood. Smeltz is past it, and I don't think Brockie is up to it. (I consider, Kosta, Rojas and Thomas, as wingers or AM). Boyd is still developing.

Under Wood, we have the kids, and not many, if any are strikers playing first team football overseas.

This may have been addressed earlier, but I just reckon there is a lack of depth in the All Whites squad up front.

Wood is all we got at the moment really.

Sorry but Dyer is dire at CDM AND CAM. Hes young so hes got time but is he anywhere near senior All Whites level right now? No. Nowhere near it

I don't think you understood what I meant.

Apart from a couple out your list, these guys consider NZ club football as "fitness". They are killing time as they look to get signed. Very unaware mate.

Yeah that was tough for him. He should never have been picked (Roux and Fenton being the obvious missing players) but that aside, to not even get a touch in your debut and come off after how many seconds is just unfortunate and is not wished on anyone.

I'm not one to react on emotions after a game but that was rubbish and he needs to go and go now while we have time to turn things around.
