awesome. I hope we get a sell out (and perform well, if not win or draw with a couple of goals over in the middle east somewhere).

I haven't received any emails about tickets... but they are already for sale right?

Not sure if it's been discussed before but does anyone have an idea of what ticket prices might be for this (adults and kids)?

This is going to be an expensive year (new line item in the household budget...football).

We would like to offer some kind of incentive for people to get non-football folks along to the game.

We're (cautiously) open to your suggestions as to how we could reward you for bringing lots of fringe football fans to this massive match.

Good ideas will be rewarded with praise.  Bad ideas will be rewarded with a Hard News lap dance.

Carrot and stick approach?  A good idea in principle but in this case the stick is larger than the carrot (I realise this is terrible imagery and smacks of Finbarr saunders and his double entendres).

Not sure how many ideas will be forthcoming except from those who don't fear lap dances....

News's lap dance routine involves both a carrot and a stick I believe.

Posted this on the other thread: Your guys thoughts?

Just had a think about the crowd, I dont really care if its not a sell out (which i do think it will be) And i dont really see the point in dragging along non football people to the game, It will only serve to dilute the atmosphere, and may actually see some people who care miss out if its sold out.

Its not like the Nix where its some part our responsibility to build a big crowd and keep the team alive. Obvioulsy it would be great to get NZ football a large gate, and we all knwo they nee dteh money. But the WC is bigger than that. Im there to see us qualify and I wouldnt care if I was by myself if we did.

Bare minimum if your bringing along people that won't get involved, get them some tickets sitting with families or something. I dont want to be sat anywhere near someone who will not be going berserk if we do manage to pull this off.

If we don't sell it out then you will never see another major All Whites game in Wellington again.

If that's not motivation enough to get your mates along then I don't know what is.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Am not from wellington, flying up for the game. I dont really see the point in artificially screwing the numbers, bit like the whole leaving the TV on so sky thinks we're watching the A league debate thats going on.

But having said  that, your point, smithy, does make sense. I spose if it was here in chch then id be trying harder to get people along to the ground in the hope that we get other games.

Whats the big deal about travelling to see games anyway, its dirt cheap if you book in advance, and fun weekend away.

Interestingly (and note this is NOT an idea merely an observation, so please put down the carrot...AND the stick) one of my workmates will be taking his famdamlee to see the AWs but not to the Nix (but have suceeded in getting the idea of a work family outing to a Nix game).

So he is buying into the Smithy mode of thought - this is a massive game for NZ football and worthy of attendance.

For some international cricket matches in Australia, Fox (or whatever channel carries it), somehow blocks out broadcasting the match to the city where it is being played. The rational is that if fans don't have the option of sitting at home to watch the match, they will go along. No idea how this works (Fox must receive some kind of incentive from Cricket Australia to do this), but they  get some pretty massive crowds, particularly to test matches.

Now... this is not a suggestion I would support (there are a lot of people in Wellington who can't make it to the match for one reason or another), but I don't think it's ever been tried with any sport in NZ.

I also think there are positives of allowing casual fans who have a passing interest in football but wouldn't pay for a ticket a chance to see the AW's on TV...
