Have you got a link to where you found the Eurosport 2 info Wolfman?
Had a look on tv guide online and couldn't see it anywhere.
If it's definitely on Eurosport 2 then a pub in Melbourne might be able to show it for those interested...

Yeah. As far as the media coverage goes, it has been kind off good that Nelson has been in doubt, as it has given something for people to talk about.

The Crowd Goes Wild has been good, a story each night, but just using old Footage, and Mulligan and Richardson don''t really know what to talk about, unless its Cricket or American Sport.

Here is hopeing tonight we can get some coverage of the boys training, and it pumps up numbers for nov 14th

Yeah SKy have both games I am pretty sure. Which is good, TV1 would probably cut it off after 85 minutes to show the beginning of 'Breakfast' or something.

Mulligan does mention the nix quite often on cgw I did hear him say one night that his father is a season ticket holder and goes to all games. I think I heard that correctly.

Isn't he David Mulligan's older brother?

Yeah he is a proud Wellingtontonian. But the show in general, doesn't do much for Football in this country.

After our 4-0 over in Barhain, they willl have to talk about it

If Bahrain was to win this game 4-0 what would stop them coming to the Ring of Fire with 11 crappy players and getting 6 reds and giving the All Whites the 3-0 win, then we miss out? (just wondering doubt it would happen)  clark007e2009-10-08 13:34:19

i think it would be more a forfeiture of the entire 2 legged competition. 3-0 wins generally only happen in points competitions, and is a rule within that. A forfeit would be a straight forfeit in this case, meaning we'd be in the WC.

Allegedly

Firstly, if for the sake of discussion, we assume that Bahrain would get through 4-3 on aggregate, I imagine having all those players serving bans would be deterrent.

The tournament regulations state:
If, through the fault of a participating member association, a match
cannot take place or be played in its entirety, the FIFA Organising
Committee shall declare that the match be forfeited (awarding victory
and the resultant three points to the opposing team as well as the
score of 3-0, or greater, depending on the score in the match at the
time of abandonment) and/or exclude the team concerned from the
competition.

FIFA have discretion to award a greater score than 3-0. If a team was to do as you asked, I suggest that FIFA would award an appropriate scoreline.

Edit: bold the exclusion clause.

Yes.

Kings will be doing coffee and brekky for early risers and beer for those still out.

They will be VERY strict on liquor licensing laws so if you're too boozed you will be sh*t out of luck.  We should have it bannered tomorrow.

How's my driving? - Whine here

haha could be an issue just hate watching sport when its in normal def now, plus the fact that i can see Bahrain being too poor to have widescreen even though the country is rich as.

Just listening to Miles Davis from Bahrain on the Radio. He is not happy about the fact the All Whites are not giving Press conferences and stuff.

You are right, these will be vital, Nelsen could be dangerous from them, and Our midfield has to work hard. for any chance!

Not quite - what the clause says is that the default forfeit result is 3-0. HOWEVER, if the game is abandoned and the scorline at the time is higher than the regulation 3-0, than the higher (and actual) score would be taken as the result of the match.

But FIFA could intervene if they thought there was unsportsmanlike collusion to produce a certain result, and ban the teams involved from further competition.

To be honest, I think that being media unfriendly at this stage isn't the best for the All Whites.

Yet here I am berating the news media for a lack of coverage, and the AWs don't even want to talk to them. Hard to complain if that's the case. Have they given up on a big home crowd, or do they expect people to find out by telepathy? They might hype it here closer to the time, but it could be a bit late by then to try and get people keen...

Edit - & what el grap said. If things don't go well they'll get no sympathy now.

who cares if media hve been blocked. all that matters is that the all whites play hard, and fingers crossed they win in bahrain. thats all that matters. the media that are there and are wishing to interview are mostly foreign...thats added pressure. dont need that crap. as i sed...GIVE EM A TASTE OF KIWI.

i think it is reasonable for a coach to decide that it is not what he wants for his players as part of their preparation for such an important game

having said that NZF would be then expected to explain this and provide other tour party options for the media to interview

the job of the players is to win this play-off

the job of NZF (in my view) is to promote the sport but not at the expense of missing out on SA

Tigers, those comments suggest that doing media interviews (or not doing them) 3-5 days out from the game will have a significant impact on whether the All Whites win and/or play well on Sunday.

Do you really believe that?

Disappointing that media have been blacked out from AWs. It is understandale for AW management to keep unnecessary distractions away form players especially at this crucial time. Surely there is a media person form travelling team who can update media on any queries. Many soccer follwoesr have been whingeing about lack of media coverage but look at this now....  We can't blame cover to cover stories about rugby, league, etc etc form now on. What if the impossible happens on 10 Oct at Manama and there will besurely be huge media coverage on Monday and this may well be detrimAntal for the home leg playoff on 14 Nov. AW management not media savvy or shows its aloofness??
