Cockerill deserves a lot of credit the way he unfailingly squeezes in a mention of the AWs during every match he does. Last week he had Slater audibly groaning and telling him to settle down which was nice to hear.

Disagree - in fact it was Bahrain adjusting to our formation early on, trying to get in behind what they thought would be genuine wing-backs (which they were not), but that clearly wasn't the way they were used to playing (slow in getting numbers forward and picking the right attacking channles to run into with that kind of tactis) and obviously didn't work for them.

You're on. It won't be in the first 2 games of course, assuming we get there.

Incidently, if it hasn't been mentioned already. If Ivan steps out on the pitch on the 14th, and no reason why he won't, he'll be the highest capped All White. Currently equal with Vaughan Coveny on 64

I heard Bahrain are spending the days leading up to the qualifier playing and training in Brisbane. I wouldn't call Brisbane a great way of leading up to a clash in good ole Wellington in Spring.

Let the Southerly be with us.

El grap, you're terribly pessimistic. the aussies got murdered in bahrain (ok not on scoeboard but in terms of possesion and chances). we did ok. they were at home, should have had all the momentum but in first half created virtually zilch. second half, they did better. they had to, they were at home and desperate. and we had half chances in second half.
 
it will be a different dynamic in wgtn. home advantage will matter. we will have lots of possesion and create chances. they are not that good, we are not that bad and we will be at home. GOOOO USSSSS!!!

Should be "Ciudad", sure, but have you ever noticed the Europeans throw in an English word when they're trying to be cool.  I was in Paris a couple of months back and the this guy says to the clothing shop assistant, "c'est un peu small, je voudrais un oversize".  Never learned that at school.

Also i read on another thread, a 1000 people from Bahrain flying over, including the royal family, wow, I guess security will be tight.

Yeah the ref will be a big call.....hopefully we get a northern european who doesn't mind a bit of contact.
 
Noticed that the field in Bahrain was as bare as a badgers arse. Might be worth getting the groundsman at the ROF to give it a long cut before the match...especially if it is going to be wet. Longer grass makes it harder to play a fast passing game along the deck.
 
Also how about a nice southerly front....8pm in November would get down to a tasty 8 or 9 degrees with a nice gale. Can't believe the Baharaines would go to acclimatise in Brisbane. Late November in Brissy can easily be 30 deg

I've got a bit of confusion I'd like cleared up if anyone knows any information..I purchased my tickets to the White Noise Zone via ticketeks website but have subsequently lost the email. I opted to pick up the tickets from the stadium because I'm flying up from Chch. I cannot find any information on ticketeks website about my purchase when I log in with my email and password but would like to know where I am actually sitting so I can ask on here about how close I will be to the center of White Noise.

can anybody tell me what the situation is with away goals in these games? Ie. if the 2nd leg is a 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 etc draw does that mean Bahrain goes thru? Or will the 2nd leg go into extra time? Thanks.

What AWB has written re extra time away goals not counting double is rational and fair. However, it is not supported by the FIFA 2010 WC Regs which state that in the event of a draw "goals scored on the opponents ground shall count double". That is, no distinction is made in the WC regs between away goals scored in normal time and extra time. Not fair, but Bahrain could have 120 minutes to score an away goal.

That was from FIFA themselves, although LPF1 has emailed back seeking further information.

that is what i thought but an Aussie website is offering packages to SA in Jburg saying "the roos are just a few minutes down the road from your hotel" ??

Well thats what NZF has been saying and as I read the FIFA documents it seems to infer that is the case. But as some people have said, it is not obvious to them. But I take it as say as thus that ET is not actually part of the second leg, it is a decider in itself.

If the same number of goals is scored away or both matches end without any goals being scored, extra time of two periods of 15 minutes each will be played. To me it says that after normal time when both matches end (i.e. 90 minutes of the 1st leg and 90 minutes of the 2nd leg) and taking the account of the away goal rule, then extra time of 15 minutes each will be played on the event of an even outcome. I really can't say that it would be read otherwise.

The away goal rule is stupid tbh. they should just go straight to ET and the PSO.

The away goal rule cannot apply in extra time as this is clearly an unfair advantage to the team playing away in the return leg- that would almost equate to a golden goal.

You prob could have waited a bit longer before you pulled out that call.for a start if someone has a bad game I'll say they did. If they have a good game I will. You somehow seem to be beyond doing this (prob beacuse you are related). He's pulled out a couple of half decent saves in the past couple of games and I thought he was solid enough in Bahrain. Hopefully it will continue. End of the day he's out Nix and AW number one - so he has to be backed.
I think I have waited long enough, the last 5 or so games have proven to you all finaly what I have know since since our first game. After his last 4 Phoenix games I had not said anything but I think I deserve to now.

Yes but it is the way you do it in. When he has a bad game you are one of the first to let everyone know (out of credible posters, ignoring the likes of whooooooo) and you do not pull any punches. On his good games I barely hear a whisper from you.

Even now you call his saves "half decent" while if it was say another keeper (who won't be named) you would be calling them fantastic saves, not making it sound like he had an above average performance. However even Nelsen, Herbert and many others have hailed his standout performanc and said he was fantastic.

All i know is,i get nervous everytime the ball goes anywhere near Paston,be it a cross,shot or even the ball at his feet. One shouldnt have that feeling if the keeper is 'world class' as you put it

Are you being serious? I would consider Vukovic, Galekovic Reddy, and Paston all better then Moss. Moss seriously lacks organisational skills (please no jokes) and this is shown by the fact that no matter what team he plays for, teams consistently score goals (often in 2+ amounts) against him.

Also I am sick and tired of this "nervous" excuse. I have no idea where it started but he has done nothing consistently to justify these feelings IMHO.
