If the Tahitian skipper doesn't get sent off that's a disgrace.

How Sea monster could get booked but Nicholas get nothing is a bit of a joke.

Oceania really needs to do something about its piss poor Island refs.

Being a WC qualifier, its FIFA jurisdiction, not OFC.

He said "Nelly reckons it might be his last one." Take from that what you want. Could be last game at home... I doubt he would bail before WC 2014 when not having qualified.

If you mean the referee yes its FIFA jurisdiction but Oceania selects its Fifa panel referees for Fifa use.

Oceania needs to put in a lot of effort to get the non kiwis up to an acceptable standard.

Well after playing tonight he must have thought "we have no chance" then announced his retirement From international football.

Maybe he's retiring out of shame.

But that was also his first game in CHCH so that kind of goes without saying, just struck me as an odd way to put it. Maybe this performance made Nelsen think that it was a lost cause, hopefully just hist first and last international in CHCH

Win the next one at home against New Caledonia and we're through to the intercontinental play-off.

Bastards better win, I fancy a Brazilian holiday.

They should ship a load of OFC refs to the uk to work in the conference for a season..... Letting them lose on internationals is not nice

All things being equal we will most likely struggle to get to the world cup (based on rankings etc).

Assuming that is it worth staying in this tin pot confederation for that opportunity, plus youth teams, women etc

I'm genuinely torn.  I always thought it was but I'm starting to wonder.  I thought things were getting better, but ultimately any real change in the level of the competition is a generation away.

In a hearld/stuff article a day or two ago Ryan said this would probably be his last game in CHC. I believed he will retire as soon as we got knocked out in qualifiers or the WC.

It was definitely fluid - like diarrhea.

We should be, they are the reason we're not going to Brazil next year.

Yeah, on the one hand that was by far the worst performance of the qualifiers so far and we can't possibly play that bad again. Also, sometimes you just get dragged down to the oppositions level and, likewise, can lift against better teams.

On the other hand, maybe we are just shit.

Another cracker goal from McGlinchey to finish off, what a class act he was in a generally rubbish game. ..got the result I guess.

Shit refereeing, some weird decisions and inaction. Killen looked to be offside for his goal ..officials should have called it...and the ref should have been firmer on the fouls. Might have reduced the feeling of injustice near the end and conversely their captain would have been sent well before his red mist grandstanding at the end. He was well due at least one sending off and probably two..and got away with one yellow. I suspect there'll be some judicial afters concerning his behaviour, surely?

That "hundreds and thousands" chart of the All Whites shots on, off etc    looked just like a Liverpool chart, only there actually WERE some goals...which reminds me ...gotta go, "Being Liverpool" n' all...

Yeah this game has made me question my view too. I thought the age grade world cups,as well as the easier chance at world cups was worth staying etc.

it may be an emotional response, just after the Tahiti game. But why would we want to stay in a confederation where players are trying to injure us and referees are so incompetent, and you could even make a fair case of them cheating against us. That game also dulled my view that football in this confederation is improving.

I've gone from thinking we should stay,to being genuinely torn in the space of 90 minutes.

Allegedly

NC will try and play football. Tahiti never really did, i think thats half the reason why the game was so shit. Im just glad we've already played and beaten them away. NZF should just say fuck it and play the game in wellington. Same team, same chunk of Phoenix players at our tried and true home ground. Win there, then do the same for the home play off. Done.

Taking these Oceania games around the country is bullshit, theyre not going to now get a crowd anywhere that wellington wont be able to beat.

Will there be a man of the match thread? Because my vote goes to the guy who played the last post at the beginning. That was actually incredible, I've never seen it played at a sports match before, I've only ever seen a minutes silence. Gave me the chills.

As for the football, that was the worst I've ever seen the team play. The sooner forgotten the better.

I never spotted an angle that proved that.  They only showed the players on one side when there were clearly two the other side.
