two things.3-4-3? 4-4-2 would have been much better. Lochhead is not a midfielder. You could have dropped him back and moved Smith central and allowed yourself an two attacking winger of the Brockie/Rojas/Barbourouses trio. Picked 2 strikers and then mixed from there.
There is angst for Mulligan but there isn't any other options unless you play Boyens and Smith central, Vicelich in the middle with the young Fitzgerald at RB.
Well Ricki did say that due to limited time together he would be using the same system as in previous games. Lochhead played in that wing back role in all the games he has played since the All Whites used this system, so I don't think it should be too much of an issue, plus Tommy will stay back and push wider when we have possession but compress when we don't so he is pretty central.
More of an issue is the lack of strength at RB which probably necessitated a move to this formation (plus the obvious strength in certain positions - CB, ST). I would expect to see a different system used when the subs come on, a back four with Ricki having a look at Fitzgerald?
Would like to see finish the game:
Moss
Fitz Boxall/Vicelich/Smith (2 of 3) Lochhead/Smith
Mulligan/Vicelich
McGlinchey Clapham
