It would be good if they got a full house.  Especially the amount of travel some of the players are doing to get to this game.  Surely people can travel 10 or so kilometres to see our national team?

I agree with your sentiments but I'm guessing you're not from Auckland? Plenty will be coming south from the shore and the west no doubt which are both a fair bit more than 10km and combined with Auckland traffic on a weeknight it's not a pleasant journey at all.

But no excuses, get into it Aucks!

We are coming up from Hamilton, I figure if we leave at 4.30 here we miss our own rush hour traffic and then we arrive in Auckland just after 6pm and hopefully creep through to mt smart.

Two of the people who were gonna fly up with me have bailed, so am gonna take my little cousin instead, this will be his first Football match I think, definitely first time for him being in amongst the chants and banter.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

The article was written on the 27th of January and they are only letting people know about it now???  Also do they check their articles before they post?

Were dipping out toes into the water and long term its another way for us to make home games financially viable. But at $8 we think therell be a fair amount of expat Kiwis and Jamaicans logging in, and even interest from other CONCACAF nations.

edit: realised they typo'd the date, probably meant to say 27th February 2012

Probably done in a rush, but I suppose it's good news to those outside the country? Unless it will be streamed on betting sites as well.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Ive signed up to try it out $8 is a fair price if its a quality stream, plus it will save having to hunt around for one on game day. Good initiative from NZF

I am guessing this will probably be one of those things they're gonna try out for the future. Will be good to see it happen. If I can pay for a reliable stream, I would (and I have, until pompey tv got shut down).

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Yeah this is great news. hopefully it goes well so we can have this option for all NZ games not just the home games.

Yeah, hope the stream is good and the commentary is not in arabic ;)

I am gonig to sign up now.

Someone should start a post on this webstreaming article or put the article on the front of yellowfever for more awareness. help nz football out with their promotion of it ;)

from above article.

"And Smeltz said it was a good thing that the All Whites, on the back of their 2010 World Cup heroics, had now set the bar so high in terms of expected performance levels.

"I think we have to do that. It doesn't matter who we play, especially coming here. We just want to put in a good performance and get the right result, which we've been doing. We want to keep that going now."

Has he forgotten the loss to Paraguay (at home), the thumpings at the hands of Mexico and Australia?

Would love to watch another game against Mexico tbh. They play some good football, gold cup was a good watch last year.

12000 isn't toob bad, although i suspect that includes the 2000 ticket give away.

20 might be a go, which for a friendly game of footy is pretty good especially when Jamaica is not a household name in football. (looking at their potential squad - they have some real quality there though).

Really interested to see what the line up will be like.

Had a look at their squad and to be honest have never heard of any of them. Just interested to know what quality they have?
On home turf, I reckon we should win well.

Ugh, thats sucks, I wanted to see us against the most prepared Jamaican team possible..

Only one name I recognise in their squad, Omar Cummings, even then I don't remember how he played when I saw him (if I did), I think he scored against the Timbers, meh?

I don't know if I'm to happy that Herbert wants to keep the 3-4-3 formation with Mcglinchy on the wing, I thought he would be better suited as a cm in an attacking role.

The issue with Jamaica is that there is quite a few quality players who are eligible to play for them (something like 20 in the Premiership and top Championship clubs), but who, for one reason or another, haven't yet played for them. The only two Premiership players who have played for them in the past few years are Ricardo Fuller and Ricardo Gardner, but even they haven't played for a while.

But you get the feeling that if Jamaica is close to making the World Cup that a lot of these players would get a sudden interest in playing for them (kind of what happened with us in 2010). With this in mind, they could prove to be quite a tricky opponent if they're the team to make the inter-continental playoff in 2013.

This

Not surprising really.....Ricki doesn't do attacking mids. Also with such a short lead in time they will go with the tried and true settup.

Prob team

            Paston

      Reid  Nelsen   Smith

Bertos   Keat  Brown   McClinchy

      Smeltz  Wood  Killen/Barbarousses

I'm really looking forward to seeing how some of the new guys go....especially Keat. With Vicilich and Brown getting on in years he could have that DM role for many years if he is good enough.

Really exciting times to be a AW supporter. lots of young talent coming through. Ried, Barbarouses, Rojas etc are all excellent players. Can't wait to see them in action.

After Jorginho James scored on debut in Thursdays 1-0 win and earned himself a ticket to Auckland, Jamaica stepped up a gear with a comprehensive 3-0 win on Saturday.

JAMAICAN TEAM'S TRAVEL NIGHTMARE:

The coaching staff and seven players missed the flight from  LA to Auckland (scheduled to arrive Monday morning) after the flight scheduled to take all 21 members of the party from Miami to LA was cancelled, resulting in the Jamaican party being re-booked onto three separate flights to LA.
Two groups made the scheduled Auckland flight, meaning seven players arrived in Auckland yesterday (Monday) morning. "They are expected to be joined in Auckland by Dwayne Miller, Luton Shelton, Damion Stewart, Claude Davis and Keammar Daley..." (UK & Europe-based players).

The coaching staff and seven remaining players were scheduled to arrive in Auckland this morning (Tuesday) at about 10am NZ time.

"The delay of the major group to New Zealand has reduced Whitmore and his technical staff to just one training session with the group which includes two players Stewart and Davis who have not played with the team in two-and-a-half years."

I thought McGlinchey was one our best when we played China in CM with Brockie playing in one of the wing back positions.

I would like to see

        Paston
   Reid Nelsen Smith
Bertos McGlinchey Keat/Brown Lochhead
   Kosta Killen/Wood Rojas

Would like to see what Keat offers, we know what Tim offers. Brockie could come in for one of the WBs or attackers but like the pace and mobility that Kosta and Rojas offer, thought Kosta has played well for the AWs in recent games, even in deeper positions. Wood is young and would be good to see how his game is progressing but do like Killen and thinks he offers a better all round game than Wood.
