I am a can of Keen Beans for this one. Definitely a wicked test if we make it the play-offs for that 0.5 of a spot. Hope that Lovel Palmer is playing for Jamaica...

Lovel Palmer and Ryan Johnson are my favourite.

Current teammates
Chris Wood - Marvin Elliott, at Bristol City
Jake Gleeson - Lovel Palmer, at Portland Timbers
*Also a number of former teammates.

The train does not go to Albany.

Would it pull the viewers on One/2?

I would have assumed there would have been a contract already in place for televising friendly matches.I guess because they don't have confirmed fixtures from months out like the rugby tv rights have to be arranged ad hoc

I'd say that the free-to-air channels wouldn't want to bump their Wednesday night shows. I mean, what would fans of motorway patrol do for a week?

After no reply to my email from the website, I went into Ticketek at MFC, they gave me the Ticketek support phone number 0800686677, and they told me that an incorrect link was sent out. They said I'd have to go back to whoever sent out the link, and get them to send the correct one. Over to you Hard News....do you have a new link?

Should be a good game, hoping for a big crowd. I'm guessing just NZ/Aus based players, oh and maybe US ones. Probable lineups ? Anybody know anything about the Jamaican team ?

JAMAICA:
Of the first-choice players from their squad from their last international 11/10/11 vs Honduras, most play for overseas clubs: 5 in Major League Soccer in North America; 4 in the Norwegian Premier League; 4 in the lower English leagues (Brentford, Bristol City, Chesterfield, Preston)
They have a number of other players to draw from, also playing overseas e.g. 6 other players from Major League Soccer have played for the Reggae Boyz in 2010-11.

Review of their last match 11/10/11 vs Honduras away:
All White Chris Wood's current team-mate at Bristol City, Marvin Elliott, made his Jamaica debut in this friendly.
See 10 mins extended highlights here: (Great passionate Spanish commentary with lots of GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!):

Word from the Jamaican FA website is positive for the All Whites' match, suggesting their top overseas players will be called-up for the Auckland game in the FIFA window, whilst mostly local Jamaican players will be used for their two home friendlies against Cuba 22nd and 24th Feb.:

Unfortunately, Jamaica's two highest-profile players, English Premier League stars Ricardo Fuller, the Stoke City striker and Ricardo Gardner, the Bolton Wanderers defender/ midfielder, no longer seem to figure for the Reggae Boyz.

Former Stoke City striker Demar Phillips, now playing for Aalesunds in Norway, has scored a lot of their recent goals.

They have a capable-sounding keeper in Dwayne Miller who plays in Sweden's top league:
GKDwayne MillerJuly 14, 1987 (1987-07-14) (age 24)P

Their all-time top goalscorer, Luton Shelton who plays in Turkey, is still playing and has scored a lot for his young age:

Herbert faces All Whites selection puzzle All Whites coach Ricki Herbert has a tough selection puzzle to solve in picking an 18 man squad to face Jamaica in the ASB Summer International on February 29.

January 31, 2012

AUCKLAND All Whites coach Ricki Herbert has a tough selection puzzle to solve in picking an 18 man squad to face Jamaica in the ASB Summer International on February 29.

The match against the world number 52, which could be a preview of a World Cup qualifying playoff in November 2013, is the All Whites only match this year before World Cup qualifying starts in June this year.

Herbert will name his squad next week and even though club must release players for the game as it comes in an FIFA international window, he says player interest in the game is a positive sign.

Ive heard a few players publically confirming their will to be part of the group and thats always pleasing, Herbert said.

Weve built a strong group and the desire to pull on the shirt and represent New Zealand is at its core.

Since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Herbert has handed senior debuts to Marco Rojas, Michael Fitzgerald, Jake Gleeson and Michael Boxall. Others like Kosta Barbarouses have been recalled to the fold and made strong cases for long term involvement in the national team.

The number of players in professional environments has only increased in recent years and theres a pool of about 30 players now who were involved in South Africa or in games since the World Cup.

The reality is that I can only select 18 for this match and while it means were building a depth we probably havent had before it also means Ive got some tough choices to make in the next few days.

Gold Coast goalkeeper Glen Moss, who is recovering from surgery on a torn adductor muscle, is the only player confirmed to be ruled out through injury although the progress of Ryan Nelsen is being keenly followed.

Tickets for the match went on public sale at noon today.

Bottom right of the central box, underneath "Seller" and to the right of the seat number. Mine is 73.

who should it be up front?

Smeltz and Wood? Is that a good combo? Rojas, McG, Leo outwide aiming at them?

Any place for Killen?

What about the Fitzgeralds and co?

Help Ricki out- what would you suggest the squad should be?

If Ricki is going to stick with a 3-4-3

        Paston

    Siggy Reid Boxall

Leo McGlinchy Brown Lochead

 Kosta             Smeltz
           Wood

Gleeson, Fitzgerald, Mulligan, Rojas, Brockie, Killen

One of...
Fallon, Vicelic, Eilliot, Clapham, Christie, Boyens, Daniel

I'm assuming Nelsen, Moss and Smith will not be available.
