Some interesting quotes from Ricki...

"Purely from a central midfield position, it's an area where we can get a little bit more depth. So Dan will get some game time ... absolutely," Herbert said. "He was a good young player who has made strides going to a good club like the Galaxy. He's technically very good and this is an ideal international showcase for him to step out and show us what he can do."

"Chris is in a good space, he's doing what he needs to do scoring goals. He's played for us at times and come off the bench at times. But maybe it's now time that we look at him leading the line. Rory will be an integral part of what we do moving forward. But there was no point in bringing five frontline strikers out when my intentions will be very clear to play Woodsy and Kosta as well. It just shows the depth we have now got."

Very impressed with that squad...now if only we can uncover a handy right back thats convieniently been eligible to play for the AWs all along....
Maybe Vince Lia if the Fifa agree...

Not who I had in mind at all, was thinking a slightly higher class, no disrespect to Lia

I have noticed that a few of you want to play a 4-4-2 with Reid as Right. I hope people realise that playing left or right back is quite different from playing Centre back. Not saying Reid cant make that transition but he will be a lot more comfortable playing in the middle with Nelsen which is why I think Ricki will go with 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 (proven to work) , using Leo and lochead out wide as defensive cover.

Reid has struggled in the past at Right back against quality opposition so might need a bit more experience there. But I guess now is as good a time as any to try it.

Reid and Nelsen are definate starters for me, if a back three was used, would people prefer Smith or Siggy?

               Gleeson

     SigmUnd    Nelsen    Reid

        Brown   Keat
Brockie                      Lochhead
      WeeMac/Kosta/Killen/Marco
          Wood   Smeltz

True but I would prefer Reid at RB as opposed to SigmUnd. Ben needs it to be kept simple and Reid has played that role and has better ball skills

Just 19 days away, I suppose that's plenty of time to secure tv coverage of this match..?

I think that by the time you have all the pull-outs, you will end up with a team like this:

Paston

SigmUnd (CB)
Vicelich (CB)
Ricki Herbert (CB)

Bertos (RWB)
Lochead (RWB)

Brown (CM)
Andrew Hore (CM)
Gareth Morgan (CM)

Feverish (in the Jonesy)

john Key (CF)

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

If it comes to that then I wouldn't start SigmUnd in a back 3. He is a CB at A League level and can fake/fudge RB. This is international football. He starts if Ryan doesn't in a back 3 or as the partner in a back 4. No where else.

If you're going to use wingbacks, don't use a wide attacking midfielder and a striker.
I think we will see lochhead for Brockie, but then maybe Brockie for Bertos. I think Rojas will not start, instead it will be someone more central, hopefully Keat.

                Paston
         Reid Nelsen Smith
Brockie Brown Keat Lochhead

hmm, that's still quite low.  They might have to get Gareth Morgan to do a bit of marketing for them.

Its still over two weeks away, maybe they are looking to do a late push, blanket the media with advertising 10 days before hand?

Matheson full of info today. Game won't be on Sky, probably delayed only on the Maori Channel.

Seems odd, wouldn't think NZF are in a position profile wise where they can afford the game to be delayed.

Is the game up against the cricket or something, maybe they think no one will watch it and can't be bothered paying for the rights .  Pretty sh*tty of sky.

There is an ODI on that day. But you would think it could fit in somewhere on one of the other two channels.

Three for me, and two for them.

Don't Sky tend to leave getting the rights to All Whites games until VERY late? Could require a barrage of emails from us.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fox Sports plays it over here.

But they can't cover it if there are effectively no broadcast cameras at Mt Smart (assuming the Maori tv delayed coverage is not going to happen).

There's an advert on ESPN's Soccernet website, I'm guessing just for NZ viewers? It's a banner right at the top of the homepage.
