Because we have very few decent defenders.

He'll probably get the award for worst player ever to make ANY world cup squad. Ever.

Its no longer a problem.

THIS.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Because the more Nix players we have in the AWs the more cash we get. Should add Costa in there too for extra moo-lah.

I find it funny that Gouldie has come closer to being put on than Mulligan has. Next Ricki will be lining up in front of him!

Thats because Mulligan isn;t a keeper and Gould is still amazingly good. Any ex celtic player is still awesome

A cardboard cutout of Tony Lochhead.

That would actually be hilarious  might piss some of the reserve squad off a tad though

Yeah.  Mulligan would be thinking, "If Cardboard Lochy can't get a starting place, I've got no chance!"

Mulligan didn't play over 100 games in the Championship because he was crap.

I cant believe he has been judged on how many games for the Nix? And being played at right back - out of position. I reckon we should give the guy a run of games just to see if he really measures up in his proper position on the field of play.

Right back isnt out of position for him. But yeah hes been alright at times in friendly games in the centre of midfield,so he deserves his spot on the bench over cardboard lochy, but only just. And only because cardboard Lochy is distracted by the big $50million bid from Real Madrid.

He joined my beloved Port Vale in Jan 2008. He played 13 games for them before being released. I have not heard so many fans complain about a Vale players for years. They were saying how badly and inconsistant he was.

When I heard we had signed for the Phoenix I was gutted. I said straight from the word go he was a bad signing!!!

I've never really understood the Mulligan hate on here and the podcasts. Yes, I agree he was poor in his 3 (?) starts at the beginning of last season, but others who were poor to start with have been given more tolerance here, plus second chances on the pitch - Kwasnik and Diego spring to mind. Admittedly, Kwasnik didn't get much better in a Phoenix shirt. Diego's comeback has been moderately successful, and I though he had a good first up match as well.

I wasn't impressed with Mulligan at the Confed's Cup, but as wiser heads have pointed out, he's not really a fullback - on six matches evidence, I'd have to agree. However, I'd like to see him get a chance in midfield before getting off the fence on him.

He was sh*t. but no more sh*t than Diego in my eyes. I wouldn't mind if we did chuck him on in the last 10 in his preferred position just to see once and for all if he really is constantly sh*t but I'd give him a chance.

you should really check his career mate. he played over 21 games a season for barnsley and 25 a season for doncaster in the 3 years he spent at each.He then made the mistake of going to sc**thorpe fell out of favourand later on after a few transfers he ended up out of position and drifted off the radar. much like a certain shane smeltz. he has been givne less chances than anyone else in the squad no matter how crap they were. his freekicks and setpieces alone would add valuse to the team. Give him a go, if hes pants he can join chen and ferrante.
heres a reminder of what he can do

So he played well sometimes?

Still worth a last chance in my opinion.
