Gourdie to the rescue. McKay will have such an arrogant look on his face if we win and an even bigger one if we lose. He should be on TV1's sports - The home of Rugby.

Between Gourdie, Prime and the Dompost, we have received open, honest and fair treatment in regards to this game and to football in general.

Went down to the airport to watch the Ba-rainys arrive !There were two Arabic TV crews there with about 15 -20 people working for them  ,all the NZ networks were there as well and that  fat guy from game of two halfs !
To use a rugby term (anyone remember  rugby?)it was a real scrum camera's everywhere plus a load of local Arabic taxi drivers all a bit sureall!
I got some photos on my cell phone but I'm to technophobic to be able to load them on to here !!might give it a crack later though!

Yup - the lift out should have a lot in it.  Maybe even a special front page cover like they sometimes do...  (ok, ok, I'll calm down)

[QUOTE=aitkenmike][The problem is that 'away goals count double' is even written into the FIFA regs.  Sadly this does create confusion.

Well I'll be gormed.  So according to FIFA if it's 16-8 to NZ at extra time we'll have to take penalties?  I'd have thought it is just plain wrong.

So has Caro Ryan and Toni Marsh appeared in an AW shirt yet (one for each of them or one together - I don't mind)?

Good coverage on National Radios, Morning to Noon show ,their sports commentator" Richard Brock" think that was his name ,reckoned that like the last time NZ qualified for the World Cup it will again be a flash in the pan for football here and will in  no way threaten rugby's dominance as the main sport!

Always a risk, but football has developed the structures and the youth talent to capitalise on this - unlike back then.

Don't think it will be flash in the pan, but still another genration away from getting close to the national sport. (a couple more WC apperances might hasten this)

Football has always been the sleeping giant in this country. If we win and create history then it would be fair to say that Football will be added to the this country's list of popular sports such as Rugby, Cricket, League and netball. Football clubs from junior level is far superior to that of league, netball and maybe rugby. Lets hope!! This country needs another sport to latch on to.

World Cup qualification + move out of Oceania + 2nd and 3rd A-League sides = opportunity to challenge rugby longer term. on its own qualification would be great and lift profiie of game but nowhere near enough.

Why do some people have this obsession with rugby's place as the No. 1 sport in this country. Unfortunately, it's not gonna change in the forseeable future. Deal with it.

As the man says, let's concentrate on OUR game, enjoy what we've got, celebrate the interest we're currently getting and forget all the sh*t about being in competition with rugby heads all the time.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
