Darn Beno was quick back after Daper caught him flat footed.

agreed, I've been impressed. Boxall looks alright as well. Incidently does anyone know if Boxall used to play for Mt Albert Grammer? I think I remember him from nationals a couple of years ago, he was an absolute giant!

Go brockie!!! Time to come to the nix!!!

So what can we learn from Brazil in terms of player development and producing this kind of talent?

get millions of poor people and give a them a football and Pele to watch....

or move New Zealand closer to Latin America, everybody with really big paddles...

5-0 huh. Ah well, a class apart that's for sure.

Bring on Belgium.

Three for me, and two for them.

I wonder how Draper compares to Hearfield. He looked all right out there against Brazil, although that's not scoring a goal to make a final I know...but still...

Not a great result, but to be fair, Brazil took their chances, their conversion rate tonight must be pretty high.

I think Hogg was by far and away our best player tonight. Sood up his man, mad good runs and didn't dive in. Other than that no one else really stoood tall. Peverly fell away a little for me in the 2nd half andBrockie didn't seem to get any ball.

I thought Drapers touch was pretty poor, howver, i liked the fact he came to the ball and looked for it. With Killen it was always route 1.

Hopefully as a result we might get a contract or two for the boys. Remember they are only amatuers mainly gainst fully fledged pros.A little more experience training etc.

We just really lack wide players. We have no wingers, except for barbarouses who didn't get picked.

maybe Nelson can see why the Phoenix didn't take some moree under 23 players into there team.

so I guess we want Belgium to win against China, which would set up a winner takes all game between us and the Belgiums (providing Brazil beat China). If China beat Belgium then they would only have to draw against Brazil

Brazil were taking the piss at the end there.

The Oly-Whites are football's answer to Eric the Eel.

Yea I think he did play for MAG's,their entire backline was way over 6" 1" at the secondary school nationals in 2006

Hogg good, elliot good, peverley not bad, nelsen ok, ellenhson poor, draper hopeless

Larmer awful. if nelsen wasnt playing he wouldnt have had anything to say at all. and he didnt even care. surely, youve gotta give a sh!t!

Thats about what springs to mind.

god i hate conceding late goals like that! couldive lived with 4 given we held them from the 6oth minute (even though we were right under kosh)

Draper > Killen, and I think you are being a bit generous to Si.

TBH, I doubt Old would have made that any worse.

so this Spoonley was the guy that got the Manchester United trial? He didn't have the best of games tonight

elliot's distribution was great. he hardly gave ball away all game

draper made one kruyff turn (which he then squandered) but his first touch was poor several times and when elliot put him into space about the 80th minute he just had to flick it forward to brockie and we were in on goal but he had no vision, got lost and blew it.

As Anne Bollin said to Henry the 8th, its quite conceivable.
I expect Belgium to beat China frankly.  So we have to pray that Belgium go down with some rare form of food poisoning.  Not a nice thought.

Highlights for me were watching Brockie successfully nut-megging two Brazilians (one in each half), Draper doing something similar right at the end.

I felt for Spoonley who really didn't had a bad game against pure class. That 3rd goal was a worry but I reckon it bobbled off the turf as he went for it. And the rest of the goals were not really his fault and he succeeded in saving a few more. Over all the Brazilians were toying with us, however the lads never dropped their heads as such.

At least everyone except Nelson whom plays against a fair few of these guys in the EPL, can now look back with some pride that they were there and gave it their all against some up and coming world beaters. What great memories and experiences to bring back home!

Someone buy Dunga a different coloured shirt, Pink is not his colour!

Hogg and Peverley were the bright lights for me.

Nelson was rubbish - I thought someone of his standing would take control but he didn't seem interested.

Who gave away that ball for the opening goal ?

I didn't say Drapes was great, just better than Killen.

Hope Elliotinho picks up a contract after this tournament. He was decent at Fulham and has impressed me in each of the last two games. He seems a very intelligent player, does Simon

i reckon Stu j would have been happy with Elliot's contribution, i doubt he would have ben asked to do much different

he closed players down, filled spaces when we lost possession and made himself availbable when we got the ball, he covered a lot of the park and seemed to do his share of organizing

Agree that Elliott had a good game, especially in the first half. One of the best performances I have seen from him- came looking for the ball, distribution was excellent. Really stood up into the role of "senior player" I thought.

Hogg impressed me tonight (and actually against china at times)- he was hungry for the ball and did not seem to get fazed at all when things went awry.

What was with Killen? apart from a fairly smart shot that I think went for a corner, he looked pretty lazy. (I say that while sitting with a beer and watching telly, not running around in 30 degree heat and 80 percent humidity)

hogg was sound defensively, didnt panic, strong enough, and even got forward from time to time. showed a bit of toe when he knocked it past that defender and got cross over in second half. he's only 18? good talent
