This is all angst, not PAX.

F*uck off to the "Post World Cup Friendlies Angst" thread with all this sh*t.

This thread is for pure PAX only. I don't want my PAX being cut with any angst, it ruins the high.

Can someone please post some PAX? Pleeeeease...

Michael Glading can challenge the Wellington football supporters all he likes and he can even shout until his face turns blue. Reality is that Wellington football supporters are more sophisticated and discerningthan the perennial marketer could ever imagine! Wouldn't it be a surprise if a much smaller crowd turns up for the NZ v Paraguay friendly game at the Caketin. If NZ and Paraguay promise to field a first team line up, then people will respond. Fact is both teams are simply going to have a friendly kick-around and nz football tries to make a bigbuck or two out of this. Yea, better keep your bucks in your pocket until a real and meaningful international match is staged and played in the Caketin, then Wellingtonians will turn up in force and along with other football supporters, fill up the stadium again!! Staring at a $0.5 million loss here, anyone?

Bunch of bollocks man. They are both fielding their number one teams. If you don't go then you aren't a true supporter of football in this country.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

The Parawhy match is so much bigger than the Honduras one for me. It's vengeance time. Japan got theirs, we want ours.
Anyone who watched a WC match should be there on Tuesday.

AngusBeef has done well to try and make Welly football fans look like a bunch of w**kers, which they aren't.

Three for me, and two for them.

Also casual traveling fans would rather go to Auckland on the weren't rather than Wellington during the week.

the sales will pick up, the marketing hasnt even kicked in and the media hype is a couple of weeks away.

Have been hearing ads on radio sport fairly frequently. Marketing better up the anti with a little over 3 weeks.   I just hope it's not a major flop (in wellington cause auckland is rocking it)

Anyone got an update on PAX?

after all the bollocks I kept getting about how the AW's have to come home to play it because it is the fans chance to see them after the WC, and how important the game is, etc, there better be 20,000 at the Wellington game.after all the bollocks I kept getting about how the AW's have to come home to play it because it is the fans chance to see them after the WC, and how important the game is, etc, there better be 20,000 at the Wellington game.

Most people have jobs and families...you really expect a big midweek game?

Allegedly

Permalink Permalink

jobs?  at 8pm on a Tuesday night?  That probably rules out about 20 people.

Families - either take them along, or I am sure that one can stay at home with the kids while the other goes to the game.

There is nothing better than a midweek fixture - atmosphere is better under lights

you cannot have it both ways.  This isn't directed at you Tegal, but there was so must angst on another thread when I mentioned that Nelsen, Smith and Reid shouldn't fly back for the game as everyone said that this was the countries chance to see them in the flesh and the players owed them that.  Now it seems there will be a terrible crowd (and under 20,000 will be a terrible crowd) because people aren't going to bother going becuase they have work tomorrow, or their kids might be tired at school.

Now if the crowds are terrible for these games, I will firmly plant my foot in Frankie's camp. Poor turn outs will mean the NZ public don't deserve to have these guys coming back and the likes of Reid and Smith would be better off staying in pomgolia and cementing their places in the teams of their employers. Their loyalty to the NZ program will not have been equalled by the NZ public. hope I'm wrong though.

stop assuming crowds will be terrible. far too early to reach than conclusion. once the AWs begin arriving and media start talking up the honduras match kids are going to be nagging their mums and dads for tickets to the Para game.

20K at each would make me happy. Wondering when ASB and NZF are really going to push these matches though

I agree with Frankie!!!

All this angst about "let's not repeat the mistakes of 1982". More people need to put their $50 where their mouth is.

Although I also agree with Marius that I think Wellington will still be a decent crowd.

Im just saying the crowd would be better if the game were on a saturday. People can travel, casual fans will show up rather than just the 'hardcore' who dont care (or those on shift work with no kids).

The yardstick is the saturday game, they had to expect the midweek to get a lesser crowd.

The saturday game is Auckland though...and against Honduras who most wouldnt have heard of (Just saying the Paraguay game is the most enticing as we had them in our group).

15-20k would be a pretty good turnout for a midweek all whites game, considering what i would expect the attendance of a similar midweek AWs fixture in wellington in the past.

Expect more to go to the Auckland game though. Which will lead to stupid sniping between cities etc etc.

No sh*t, everyones been 'just saying' this. NZF were 'just saying' this. But they also said 'it cant happen any other day'. So get over it.

No, pax as in people post the figures on their tickets and nothing more, or as the OP put it "pure pax". theres been endless discussion on crowd figures and other nonsense in other threads.

I agree. All this bickering is just because we are all feeling scratchy due to the serious shortage of quality PAX around here.

We need to get a PAX fix quickly before things degenerate any further.

This PAX drought is killing me.

Hopefully NZF begin showing the PAX in the media, play the whole "Auckland has 1000 more PAX as of 2pm today, come on Wellington"
