Accommodation

Hi team, please see below for full info on accommodation options broken into three legs:

- LA only
- LA to Vancouver
- Whistler/Vancouver

It's possible to get all three under $5k NZD, because we've sourced affordable options direct with suppliers leveraging off the group purchasing power.

They include chartered bus transfers on event days MD-1 and MD1 and some fun extras.

If you haven't, or have only booked free cancelled, please have a look at consider supporting and growing fan-led support. The more we can pull together, the great events, pre-match and banners and tifo etc can be.

Yeah of course, Tony mentioned he may have you covered within his allocation so let me know which.

December 7th: match ticket payments, later December: all accommodation was the plan.

Last call on accommodation, join us for the World Cup 🔥🔥

https://theflyingkiwisfc.com/accommodation-and-road-trip-options-interest/

On tickets, se have promoted and advertised registering for our allocation since late March last year, so these are well gone and over subscribed in late applications now. Looking into some creative options if it helps.

Also Tuesday, The Athletic reported that tickets sales are lagging for the United States’ opener against Paraguay on June 12 at Inglewood, California.

It said a document distributed to local organizers dated April 10 said 40,934 tickets had been purchased for the US-Paraguay game and 50,661 for the Iran-New Zealand contest on April 15. FIFA projects SoFi's World Cup capacity at about 69,650, noting it may change.

FIFA's December sale priced US-Paraguay tickets at $1,120, $1,940 and $2,735, and Iran-New Zealand seats at $140, $380 and $450.

The really interesting question is going to be... how many of those 41,000 tickets sold are sitting in the accounts of touts needing to sell them still? It could be as many as a quarter, if not more. It seems like bots are cleaning out the recent drops in the FIFA ticketing portal and it seems like there is a lot of tickets still waiting to be sold.

Something called Sports Illustrated Tickets (as in the American sports magazine) has invested heavily in the ticket resale market...

Eagle Point Credit Management has “recently increased” its $50M financing package to Sports Illustrated Tickets to “help fund its plan to purchase World Cup tickets and resell them with huge mark-ups”

Iran will always sell well in LA. I think once there is more certainty about them playing in the tournament, that match will sell out without too much difficulty. But I also think there will be a huge number of matches where there just isn't the kind of demand to meet the insane prices that are being asked right now.

In Qatar, they opened the gates around kickoff and let people in for free to try to fill seats (so I've been told, but I did see people crowding around a gate at one match. I was usually in the stadium long before kickoff), but it's hard to imagine them doing the same this summer.

A note for anyone going to Vancouver... they are closing two SkyTrain stations on match day. The main one is Stadium-Chinatown which is the stop for the stadium coming from the east. But they're also closing Yaletown-Roundhouse... the statement said those stations "will not provide pedestrian access to BC Place Vancouver due to the secure event perimeter and crowd-control routing."

I understand Stadium-Chinatown (and on the Expo Line, you can get off one stop earlier at Main Street-Science World and it's a short walk to where it looks like the perimeter is set up, so it's not a huge inconvenience) since that station is very close to the stadium. But Yaletown-Roundhouse is 6 blocks away or so. And it's the first stop past False Creek on the Canada Line which comes from the south. I guess you're supposed to keep going and get off at Granville or City Centre which IMO is just as close to the stadium as Yaletown-Roundhouse, but Yaletown is nicer, has a lot of good food and drink options and is a much nicer station/area than getting off at Granville. It's not a big deal, but I can't really get my head around there not being pedestrian access to the stadium from Yaletown-Roundhouse on match days.

They are increasing buses and train service and there are supposed to be more water taxis as well, but BC Place is really well serviced by train and now they're closing the main stations that service the stadium.

Crazy they've decided to close those stations.  I can't understand these stupid moves to inconvenience people wanting to use public transport. It's almost like BC Place hasn't had any big ticket events before.  Do you know if bicycles are easy to hire and if here is sufficient places to park them?

Looks like Bill and Tim DON'T want to go judging by their performances tonight. It's been happening too often this season. Bazley needs to grow a pair and drop them.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Hi Flying Kiwis and others here. I am late to this forum but thought I would check in. I have bought a travel package locally for the 3 All Whites Group matches.  I have accommodation in Hollywood and Central Vancouver covering 14 nights. I haven't seen my tickets for the games yet but trust that the well known NZ travel company that specialises in these events will not stuff up.

As per the previous post by Peteremcc, it would make sense for me to join the rest of the travelling group and swell the numbers of supporters in White!

We may yet play the UAE in LA! Some of these conditions very difficult, nigh impossible for FIFA to ensure are met.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/360977029/iran-sends-fifa-10-point-ultimatum-amid-threat-withdraw-world-cup

Iran has issued a 10-point ultimatum for Fifa to guarantee its football team’s involvement at next month’s World Cup in the United States.

The entire list has not been confirmed but the Iranian journalist Alireza Akbari reports that they include:
  • Visas without complications for all players and staff, including those who performed military service for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
  • Once visas are issued, players and staff should not be subjected to questioning by US immigration authorities.
  • Visas for Iranian journalists and fans attending matches must be resolved in advance.
  • US authorities must maintain the highest security protocols at airports, hotels, transit routes and stadiums.
  • Fans may only bring their official team flags to stadiums; no other flags will be allowed.
  • The playing of Iran’s national anthem during all matches must be “ensured and free from disruption”.
  • Questions from journalists during press conferences should be strictly limited to match-related topics.
It was reported elsewhere that remaining demands include requests for no political criticism directed at the team, no insults towards Iranian military personnel and official recognition of Islamic Republic symbols throughout the tournament.

Concern around visas being blocked over links to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps could be a significant hurdle. The group is listed as a terrorist organisation in Canada and the US, and Taj’s links to it were cited as a reason he was denied entry into Canada.

Nevertheless, addressing the congress in Vancouver, Fifa president Gianni Infantino promised that Iran would compete in the tournament in North America.

Taj, however, says the threat of any further visa complications could prompt Iran to pull out. “We need a guarantee there, for our trip, that they have no right to insult the symbols of our system – especially the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” Taj told Iranian state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) last week.

“This is something they must pay serious attention to. If there is such a guarantee and the responsibility is clearly assumed, then an incident like what happened in Canada will not happen again.”

Taj added: “We are going to the World Cup, for which we qualified, and our host is Fifa – not Mr Trump or America. If they accept hosting us, then they must also accept that they must not insult our military institutions in any way.”

Despite its war with US and Israel, Iran is scheduled to play New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 16 (UK time), Belgium in Los Angeles on June 21 and Egypt in Seattle on June 27.

Infantino will need Trump to get Iran’s requests through
Gianni Infantino has repeatedly promised Iran will be at the World Cup this summer, but some of these new demands are beyond his control.
Around half of the requests should fall within Fifa’s remit, which will cover tournament logistics, official protocols and the treatment of participating delegations.

But Donald Trump has yet to make any cast-iron assurances that Iran will play this summer, and the questions raised over visas, border controls and security vetting will be under US jurisdiction. Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, had warned that individuals with links to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) could still face restrictions on entering the United States.

Can Infantino answer Iran’s demands in time? Having handed Trump his peace prize last December, it may be time for the Fifa president to call in some favours...

Ugh, call their bluff, be done with it and get the next team in.  Not fair on us, Egypt and Belgium to have this hanging over preparations. Frump won't agree to anything.

Couldn't agree more.

One month tomorrow until the opening game and they're still pissing about with this.

Three for me, and two for them.

sucks for the Iranian team, as this "war" is totally out of their control and yet their footy team has to fly to the invading country and they are being treated like terrorists. We just need to prepare like it's going ahead, some form of the Iranian team will show up, and if they do they'll be prepared, passionate and ready to play even with the disruption. If they do get banned then we'll get an under prepared Italy in the group or worst case noone and we get the bye.

The UAE would replace Iran. Next cab off the AFC rank

FIFA get criticised a lot but they ain’t stupid. Teams don’t get invited to World Cups. They know that would be a total mockery. Italy won’t be there

What FIFA don’t want is some crazy angry Iranian fan driving a truck loaded with explosives into their Zurich HQ or similar. They will be working on appeasing as much of their 10 conditions as possible and having them at the WC

Apparently another one the demands by Iran is no Pride flags at their matches.
Rather strangely their game against Egypt in Seattle is a designated 'Pride Match' by the local organising commitee.

https://www.outsports.com/2026/5/11/24133777/world-cup-2026-pride-rainbow-flags-demand-ban-lgbtq-gay-seattle/

Among a list of demands made by the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran is that only officially recognized national flags should be displayed during the team’s games, extending to those flags carried by fans in the stands.

If enforced, that would prevent the visibility of Pride rainbow flags at Iran’s Group G match against Egypt in Seattle on June 26, which has been designated a “Pride Match” by the city’s local organizing committee.

The Iranian conditions have been communicated through the FFIRI’s official website and through state media channels.

There is one month to go until kick-off in the World Cup, which is being hosted jointly by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Unlike the 2022 tournament in Qatar, where local laws restricted LGBTQ expression and some rainbow items were confiscated from fans, there has as yet been no suggestion that Pride flags will be in any way restricted or prohibited at this summer’s soccer extravaganza.

FIFA has not yet responded publicly to the FFIRI’s demands, which also ask that all traveling players, coaches and officials receive visas, and that enhanced security be afforded to the team.

Iran is one of two competing nations whose citizens are subject to a full U.S. travel ban, the other being Haiti.

The Iranians’ request for a guarantee that only existing national flags be shown within stadiums presents a challenging scenario for both FIFA and the U.S. authorities.

A FWC26 Human Rights Framework guidance document published in June 2024 refers to “a tournament environment that aims to respect and protect the right to peaceful assembly, [and] the right to freedom of opinion and expression.”

While there is no specific mention in the document of Pride flags or symbols, it does refer to LGBTQ individuals and communities, who are listed among “groups or populations that may be at a heightened risk of being adversely impacted.”

That's an excellent question to which I don't have an answer.  With my World Cup package I am staying in Hollywood at Loews hotel and a bus is picking me up to go to SoFi for the match.   I currently have no idea if there are other All Whites fans staying in Loews or other hotels nearby.

Has anyone who got their tickets through the FIFA ballot received an email on how to access your tickets?

Just got an email a few minutes ago:

I was able to install the app and login and see this ticket very easily. I'm slightly concerned because I actually got multiple tickets for both Vancouver games rather than just one ticket for one of them. I guess (hope) they will filter through one by one?

They will trickle into your account on the app. I got my knockout stage tickets Wednesday and then a bunch of group stage tickets on Thursday. If they're in your FIFA account (the one accessible through the website) they should land in the app soon enough.

Four years ago the tickets didn't "activate" (IIRC you could see you had the ticket, but you couldn't tap on them to expand them and show the QR code until they were 'active' or 'live' or whatever they called it) until you were very, very close to the security gates. Which was pretty nerve-racking the first time since you were queued and getting very close to where you needed to produce your ticket and didn't have the ticket you needed to show at the security gate. But once you knew to expect it wouldn't happen until just before you needed it, it was fine.
