Elrick was alright with Becks. His interview with Davids was sh*t though.

Edgar Davids played very well but all up it was a useless, pointless, unoriginal, financial disaster of a match. If we had a real Oceania XI I'd've been more keen to watch it, but the best player actually from Oceania in the team was probably Vicelich, which is really quite sad.

And for a professional Bosnich has a fair bit of flab on him (confirmed at halftime when he was wearing nought but a towel).

Lets sign Davids who cares how old he is he was better then anyone in the Aleague and it was only a friendly and he still looked class.

Game was sh*t. Beckham and Davids were miles above anybody else on the park. Bosnich looked quite sharp for a fat cokehead. Whole thing was a waste of time and I'm glad I wasn't stupid enough to part with my cash and go along.

Highlight of the night for me was Fred de Jong wittering on about some "legendary New Caledonian player". Legendary? To who? The 37 people who live there?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Did anybody notice Fred de Jong mention David Beckham being infamously red-carded in the 2002 world cup against Argentina, and going on to redeem himself to the fans in the next world cup against the same opposition?

A strange comment considering England didn't play Argentina in the 2006 world cup.

I noticed when he said that, though, that his voice faltered and he must've realised he'd mixed it up terribly but he ploughed on nonetheless. loyalgunner2008-12-06 23:10:29

Great to see Davids in NZ. Always been a fan of his battling attitude and no lack of skills. Don't care what he was paid to appear he put in the effort and tried to get things going for Oceania. Didn't have much chance as the Oceania side never had much cohesion at all. They were bl**dy disappointing which was to be expected I suppose. Never been a big Becks fan but you can't deny that he has a certain class about him - hardly made a bad pass all match.

I think Bosnich was justified in his whinging. It seemed the ref was trying to set up Beckham with freekick opportunities for most of the 1st half.

Whether Davids would perform in the A-League I don't know.

Where was Michael Laudrup? Pity Karembu went off so early - could have been a lot more competitive

I was at Sheryl Crow and John Mellencamp at a winery in the middle of the Wairarapa. Sounds like I made the best choice and didn't miss much. The tickets were worth more than Becks and worth every cent - superb!

We got four acts at the Vector Arena for $90, and with the exception of Lady6 (why do they bother putting NZ acts on the bill when they're plainly not good enough?) it was a terrific night's entertainment.

Jermaine Paul, one of Alicia Keys' back-up singers, kicked things off with a lively solo act, before the standards were lowered by the local duo, then raised significantly by Jordin Sparks - that kid can't half sing!

Cue Alicia Keys. She is top drawer, make no mistake, and we got 110 minutes out of her, including two encores. A tremendous performance, reviewed here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/4785167a1860.html

She's performing in Wellington tonight, so if you have the opportunity, part with the dosh and go - it's well worth it.

Sounds like the concert-goers defo got better value for money than those who opted for the exhibition event.

If the powers that be are ever going to do that sort of thing again, their first concern should be ensuring they get bums on seats! (They could take some lessons from the way the FIFA U-17 WWC Finals were priced, for starters!)

Wellington marketed their LA Galaxy game a lot smarter and far more sensibly, because they made it the climax of a footballing weekend, with an A-League game and the National Women's League Grand Final part of the attraction.

Oceania and the Auckland Regional Council didn't have those added extras, so they had to get the price right in order to get the supporters along. They failed badly in this regard, which is why Auckland's ratepayers are waking up this morning to the fact that approximately $50,000 (probably more) of their annual contributions towards the city's well-being will need to be utilised to make up the shortfall incurred by this exercise in futility.

Just watch the first few minutes, great volley from Beckham brilliantly saved by Bosnich in about the 2nd minute. It's all donwhill after that

Checkin the attendence nearly more turned up to perve at enjoy the U17 Womens Final...
I for one am guilty on this as i never considerin goin up for Becks game but was straight there for thw World Cup, didnt see any point after travellin to Welly last year for it..

game was never going to pack out, as Salmon says the Oceania team had no real support base, people were only there to really see Becks.

BTW did anyone see Kylie at the Vector Area? I heard that she was dancing to Alica Key's Music. That would worth more than Becks against OFC no hopers team.
