A tour will include tickets.  Well  it should.  If not, or you don't want to do one, apply through the FIFA website.  I'd be more concerned about flights at this stage.

I am seriously thinking about going. My wife's mother gave us some money to hold in trust for her for a possible world trip (for us 3). I am now thinking about telling my wife to use it towards the SA trip and screw the round the world idea!

Anyone know what their stadiums are like and how many they hold??

How big is football in SA?

Itll be big when the world cup comes to town

Just think what the qualifier did to football here, then think about what a world cup would do there. It brings big interest,no matter where it is.

Shane Smeltz is 250:1 to be top goal scorer at 2010 World Cup.  Tim Cahill at 150:1
Never thought I would live to see the day....

How big is football in SA? Big - especially with the black population.

I'm not sure if they are purpose-building stadia for the WC, but if they were to use rugby stadia (likely, I would have thought) Ellis Park in Jo'burg holds 70,000+, and Loftus in Pretoria, Newlands (Cape Town) snd King's Park (Durban) all hold in excess of 50,000

Excellent, 12% of 50000 or 70000 should almost hold most kiwis that could make it... maybe?

Right, I've decided I'm going.

Right, I've decided I'm going.
I've decided I'm going too.

Tomorrow I'll decide when I'm going to pluck up enough courage to discuss my decision with my better half, after which the original decision may well be rescinded.

It'll be fun while it lasts though, and maybe my Lotto numbers will come up this weekend

At full tike the wife looks at me and says "lets can the US trip in January to see my sister and her family and lets go to South Africe instead". God I love my wife :-) She even suggested leaving our son with his gran for the time we're away.

Its no longer a problem.

By law, if she was drunk she could still get out of the contract! But she might not know that!

I looked on Fifa. Seats depend on where you want to sit. Worst seats are 264 for the group matches, best ones are about 500 hundy.

how quickly do you think we will have to decide and buy our tickets?

Your wife sounds bloody tops, Toffeeman.  She got a 20 year old sister perchance?

When would you expect to make an announcement on tour details/pricing? Pre-xmas?

Unlike our usual 'leave it too late' method, we're already chasing it so you would hope so.

How's my driving? - Whine here

I'm seriously thinking of going too

I'm from HK and have been living in NZ for 16 years now, so I considered myself as Kiwi and really wanna support the boys over there, and would be awesome to see just any games, as surely this is one of those things that you would do before you die

I reckon at least $10KNZD plus other bits and pieces, I might even just get a personal loan just to go there, applied for leaves for next year already at work today

come on!

Flights right now are around the NZ $2.7-3.1k - Wellington to Jo'Berg Return (leaving around 11th June, returning around 24th - Singapore Airlines/Qantas)

Internal flights will be around $100 USD per leg, (Try Mango or 1Time - Assume 3 internal flights minimum)

Plenty of accomodation is still available, (see: http://www.safarinow.com/?a=136594 or http://www.sa-venues.com/hotels_south_africa.htm), but expect to pay in the region of USD $100 per night, (could be more/could be less - Allow for 14 days)

USD $528 for a 3 game TST-Ticket for New Zealand, (next sales phase starts on 5th December, after the draw - Ballot style - See: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/ticketing/applyfor/index.html)

All up, just to see the All Whites play the first 3 group matches (tickets/International & 3 internal flights/accom), would be approx NZ$5000 + beer, (which is cheap in SA) Food optional.

NOTE: All these prices will increase as we get closer to the draw, and probably increase dramatically after the draw.

Hope this helps

I'm on a socceroo tour package but would love to watch you guys as well. Just hope you get drawn in the joburg area which is where I'm stationed. Think you'll find plenty of other aussie boys will support you over there as well, providing you're not playing against us. Gees, I might even have to invest in an AW shirt.

For anyone thinking of going, my advice is do it now cause you never know when you'll qualify again.  This qualifying campaign worked in your favour but next time around watch out for Europe wanting to reclaim the spot they lost to Africa this time which the latter won't want to lose especially if they perform well (cause of SA hosting), while South America will have an extra spot due to Brazil hosting.

This could mean the easier route of qualifying via the fifth-placed Asian team is gone next time around. Alternatively, you may be invited to compete in the final round of qualifying in Asia, though this option is less likely (can't see the likes of Uzbeks and the middle eastern countries agreeing to that as it potentially knocks one of them out)
