Get a medical certificate, he's faking it! (Based solely on what he said in that interview a month or 2 ago about putting club ahead of country)

So Clapham or Howieson in, seeing as we don't have a striker on the standby list?

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

It's hard to be sure who to blame for these away games not being televised. Maybe if sky had ponied up for the rights to show then it might have made viable to produce and broadcast, but sounds like Oceania matches just a commercial dog. These will be the only world cup qualifiers from this point on anywhere in the world not televised. So crap.

Barry, normally i'd be as cynical as you but he has been on the injured list at Aberdeen and came off injured at the weekend.

Marius, real conspiracy theorists would suggest that the lack of TV coverage would save some of the officiating from scrutiny.

Gordon - as a strong supporter of the Oceania confederation what's your view on this TV coverage debacle?

Naturally, I'm disappointed.

There are difficulties with RFO Nouvelle Caledonie and RFO Polynesie Francaise that make dealing with local broadcasters far from straight forward. I faced similar challenges with those broadcasters when I was Comms officer at the OFC and believe me, it's a political minefield. For example, getting RFO NC to broadcast the Christian Karembeu Jubilee Match to the rest of the region was an exercise in frustration. I would save you the pain of going into the minutae.

In terms of OFC TV, I read the media release and appreciate the reasoning behind the decision to not broadcast. It would not have been an easy decision for the OFC to make but I think Tai Nicholas comments summed it up. If they stood to make a huge financial loss, and they've worked with MP & Silva as hard as they could to sell those rights and came up short, then they've come up short.

I can't comment about NZF, or how much RFO NC and/or RFO PF would charge for an OB unit, but have found in the past that the numbers thrown into the mix by these HB tends to be very expensive. The match was broadcast from Noumea in 2008 (NCL 1-3 NZL) but not sure how that was cobbled together, whether or not Sky TV and RFO NC got together with NZF to sort something out or what.

Disappointment sums it up for me.

Thanks for th detail.  In the end this will hold football in the region back.  COnsidering that the matches in the islands will probably be the most competitive, and will also probably be full and therefore have a pretty good atmosphere, it's the  confed as a whole that loses out.

Thanks for the reply Gordon.

While I appreciate the difficulties, this is still a massive black mark for Oceania as a whole.

It's quite embarrassing actually.

I see that Wesley Lautoa isn't in the New Caledonia squad, has he withdrawn?

It is an absolute disgrace that there is no coverage of the game on tele or streaming this week. What year is it again ???

Way to go growing the game...

Which Roadkill would that be?

@Hard News ...will have to see about that one... which pub will that be? I hope it's within walking distance of the stadium (which there are a few thankfully) :P

2k sold for this.  Not shocked given how much they are asking for a ticket.

I also predict a clusterfuck when people roll up on the day, and realise that tickets are $10 more than what is listed on the ticketek website.  Surely they should say someone on the ticktek page how much a ticket at the door is.

Sounds like another back 3 - lame.

Id be going for a 4231 with siggy or reid at RB despite not being a RB.

2 or Keat, Payne or Vicelich in the holding roles. Means three spots for our more technical players liche WeeMac, Brockie, Rojas, Kosta or even Smeltz in behind the striker.

And then wood up top.

Just a wee reminder:

Pre-match gathering at The Merchant Bar which at Westfield Albany is handy to the stadium.  Apparently they would love to have us (They have NO idea what they're in for).  They're gonna set aside an area for us I think.

Tap beers are around $8.80 a pint (ISH)- Heinekin, Tiger, Amstel, Monteiths Origianl, Monteiths Radler, Monteiths Black, Tui, Export Gold, Export 33 and Amstel Light.

I specifically asked about ciders (so ya'll better respect) - Monteiths Apple Cider and Monteiths Pear Cider on tap.  Rekorderlig cider available by the bottle.

Depending on numbers there may be some free food.

GET IN!!!

All us from Openhost will be there asap... we don't finish till 5:30 so will be roughly 6 by the time we get there... we're about 5 minutes max away normally, but traffic is crazy around here at that time.

Looking forward to tuesday! :D

Gonna try and get to The Merchant pre-game, work permitting. See the new slimline News....

I wouldn't give them another qualifier game... not enough interest in the Island teams.

But the play off against Concaf at Eden Park could be a goer. Honestly think that would sell out without too much hassles.

Good to put a few past the island boys... when was the last time we put 6 or more in against the bigger PI teams (Solomons / Tahiti / Fiji / New Caldonia)

Would depend on the context Metal.  Ticket sales for the Bahrain game only  took off once we drew 0-0. Would need a similar result for that to happen again.
