Had to go with Auckland on the vote, closer to Hamilton and I could actually see Eden Park being full, It is an amazing venue. The cake tin is a garbage venue with a great crowd.

Has to be between Wellington and Auckland, surely Chch doesn't have the size venue for the event would be very disappointing if we only had a tiny stadium, many fans would miss out.

Nice away draw for Kenya in Nigeria.93rd minute equaliser for Nigeria.

Really Nigeria should be beating Kenya by three or four goals.Sounds familiar.

Probably the wrong place to put this.

Wellington - central for fans to travel from both islands.  We haven't had a qualifying game yet or a friendly since Paraguay 2010.  Nice symmertery with the Bahrain game.   Only downside is the game is on Wednesday night.

They could play the game in Paris for all I care I'll be there. I did vote Wellywood though for most of the reasons stated above. The game isn't until November so we've all got plenty of time to organise a few days off for this one.

The one time I have been it was full for a league test match. The stadium was easy to get around despite the crowd and the view from the seats were good, we were quite close to the action. Cake tin was a nightmare to get out of from memory of the Bahrain game the seats were so far away from the action. I get the feeling the crowd will be good where this game is as anyone who was at the Bahrain game will travel.

I think you have your grounds/cities mixed up.

I'm a bit worried that when I met winston Reid's uncle yesterday he was convinced the game was in akld. The dunners crowd was bad enough- but akld crowds are pretty rubbish.

I'm convinced the poll is to make it easier to spin the press release that announces Auckland as the venue.

Cheers for the explanation.

Be surprised with access problems given the way Westpac is built. Wasn't there.

It was in the big tunnel you walk around to get from the seating to the exit, completely congested. I remember being exhausted from yelling and the early drinking session and people bashing the rubbish bins and making extremely loud noise and taking for ever to get out of there. I actually felt sorry for the Bahrain fans enduring that. Despite everything I said, I'd happily go back just would prefer eden park or perhaps mt smart.

The new Eden park is good. A sold out RoF is hard to beat.

I actually thought the new Eden Park was pretty good for football. It is rectangular, which is a great start, and you are not miles away from the action. I wouldn't mind too much if the playoff were to be held there, as long as it sells out completely and is not just half full.

In saying that, I think Wellington is by far the best option for this game. Anyone who thinks otherwise just needs to remember how awesome the atmosphere was on November 14.

So one of the highlights of my night annoyed you. The walk out in solidarity was amazing IMHO.

I agree, for the atmosphere, but after recently losing my job getting to Wellington rather than Auckland is a completely different beast :( I really don't want to miss the intercontinental play-off. Before the Bahrain game I got my ticket so early it said all-whites vs bahrain/saudi arabia.

It was one of those things that would have been awesome if I wasn't beginning to get hungover from pre-game drinking and exhausted from yelling. To be fair it was just the bashing on the rubbish bins, it echoed like crazy.

Planning for the long haul

To prepare in the best possible way, New Zealand Football is considering a plan to recreate that experience, probably in the September 6-10 window. This would involve players assembling in Central America for a game against the likes of El Salvador or Guatemala and then flying back for a second game on New Zealand soil within a few days, most likely against an Asian team.

That would enable New Zealand Football to test all aspects of the procedure and give players a taste of what they could expect in November. It would also allow home fans a final chance to see the team.

Hey, just checking dates and venue for the playoff match?  Has this been decided yet? Are we the second leg? 19th November?

Cheap $35 flights to Wgton from CHCH at the moment....

Is now on Wednesday 20 November. Away play-off touted to be Wednesday 13 November.

These days replace any previous dates. Home date is confirmed by NZF.

Great writing:

Having edged past New Caledonia in Dunedin on Friday to top the Oceania standings, their next task could be a pressure-filled, taxing travel schedule to play in Central America and then New Zealand within six days.

The aim is to ready them for the pressure-filled, taxing travel schedule they will face playing a Concacaf (North and Central America) country for a place at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

Really hoping Wellington gets the nod for this again. Can see the temptation of Eden park due to capacity but especially on a Wednesday night, far easier to get to the RoF from bars etc.

Pressure-filled, taxing travel schedule training to commence next week and continue for following pressure-filled, taxing six months of pressure-filled, taxing training as scheduled.

Wellington. 20th November. Night. Sleet. Numbing cold. Hurricane-strength southerlies. Baying ROF. Bring it on!

I think Welly deserves it for the way the city has supported NZ football.

However, it will be hard for NZF to look away from a potential full house at Eden Park. An extra 20,000 potential tickets sold makes it an attractive financial option.

Given hte euphora of the last campaign, I'd expect a sell out.

Eden Park only holds 15,500 more than Westpac does, not 20k.

Last time round did the ticket sales really take off after the away leg as there was a good amount of time between the two games?

People may wait to see the result of the away game before buying. With a decent result in the away game this game will sell out any stadium.
