Any news on the planned half time entertainment? Cage fight between Telfer and Reason.  Winner gets to take on Guy Smith?

Perhaps we could introduce a new national mascot to the crowd - Whitey the All White  ???

I would buy the puppet, just so I could stick my hand up Whitey's @rse.

Really think missing the Confed Cup is really damaging to getting this squad gelling without Nelsen. Still so disappointed we lost that..

Was talking to a colleague about the road to the Play-off today - and I realized I feel the exact same way.
The Confed Cup would have given us 3 x very challenging games on top of whatever friendlies we were able to squeeze in. No doubt playing in the Confeds in 2009 was incredibly useful.

Absolutely but NZF need to get off their ass and take advantage of these windows

It should be in Wellington.

Three for me, and two for them.

Wellington is a no-brainer for everyone other than some Aucklanders and NZF.

Every comment ive seen everywhere, either on here or on facebook, twitter etc... its been about 90% pro Wellington. Auckland cant even vote for themselves ffs!

I'm from Auckland and want it in Wellington.

Not everyone in Auckland wants it in Auckland. Hope that doesn't shock you.

Three for me, and two for them.

Has anyone seriously considered fred taylor park?

Yer I'd like to book flights and accom too, last time I got in heaps early and paid next to nothing, alcohol not included. When do we expect a decision?

I let my guitar speak for me

Permalink Permalink

In the doom today, can't remember whom but someone from NZF saying they hoped to make the decision by late may. FUCKING LATE MAY! Hold on I better find out who it was I'm quoting.

Permalink Permalink

NZF chief executive Grant McKavanagh. Boom, research. But seriously, it's a big decision, biggest all year probably but since there are only 2 options...... hurry the fuck up so everyone can start sorting their shit out!

Yep no doubt and I'm sure we will. Absolutely necessary too as whoever it is we end up playing, will be coming out of a very tricky and long qualifying campaign and will be well up for it. Last round in CONCACAF qualifiers is mid-october.

This. When the locals are telling you to give it to someone else (and it's not just me) then surely the choice is a simple one and should be made very quickly.

Mexico would pull a huge crowd here, as would the US.

not when we get thumped 7-0 on the away leg

They key thing it to sell all the tickets before the away leg. Needs aggressive marketing reminding everyone of what happened last time, and urge them to book early to avoid missing out once it sells out.

USA is still a chance. It's unlikely but it's incredibly tight in the Hex at the moment.

Pretty sure its tight early always until usa and mex pull away. We could beat usa though if that happened

Regardless of what Mexico say now, I can't imagine them intentionally going to 4th to play us. What a risk.

The whole world cup qualification annoys me, the top oceania team should go into the CONCACAF play-off rounds and compete for one of the four spots. Less chance of a bad outing throwing the whole campaign & more games.

Oceania winner should get auto qualification

Surely we would get TV money from the televised game and with a few competitive meaningful fixtures we would get good crowds. Good crowds are cash.

I don't believe oceania should get an auto spot because we need to be tested with a playoff game.

Well if you want to grow a region? i mean New Caledonia could upstage us and they would get a shot. I like that idea. Fifa will never do it though obviously. In four years time we will have to have a playoff against South American nation

Oceania should never get an auto spot.

Not now. Not ever.

Debatable. But i'd still argue no.

I'd rather Oceania join Asia and split Asia into West and East for qualifiers before a top six fight it out for the top four spots

Perhaps south east asia (below china) and pacific be one confederation. And top two-three countries go into a rest of asia qualification. Because East Asia is extremely stacked compared to west asia.

It's why they left yeah? Didn't wanna just do the 5th place South American home and away every 4 years.
