get your head bandage on and get out there mate. he better make it. I feel we definitely have a bit less solidity in the centre with him gone even if he is no pirlo.

with a bit of luck Pirlo will be no Pirlo - or at least a 'no show' with a calf injury making him doubtful for some of the group stage games

Deaks was saying our Brownie went to an under 7's game yesterday in AKL. Awarded the player of the game prize, signed autographs.

what a top bloke he is.

Excellent. Was that his first match back? sounds like he must have put in a good performance

Only a few more days now. Timinator must have more games - maybe a step up to 12th grade (promo?)

Is he at 82.3% yet?

If Timmeh's in Auckland, then he can have a run with my women's side on Sunday if he needs practice. We've got a couple of midfielders away.

Didn't they say that he was going for a check up on June 10th for a first assessment? That's only 2 days away.

@Dan. I think it's worth it...
@Traitor. On an interview he said if he wasn't able to get to the world cup he was going to go to somewhere that has never heard of it and he said Invercargill was mentioned.

Source: Photosport<!--Spacer-->All Whites vice-captain Tim Brown

Injured All Whites vice-captain Tim Brown appears to have taken a big step in joining his team-mates at the World Cup in South Africa.

Brown is set for a ticket to South Africa after receiving good news from his surgeon today.

His shoulder is on the mend after screws were inserted into it a fortnight ago.

It was initially feared that Brown could be sidelined for six weeks, but he is apparently three weeks ahead of schedule.

It is understood Brown could depart for South Africa as soon as tomorrow, with an official decision on his inclusion in the squad to be made when he links up with the team

Radio sport has been reporting on it for a while now. Timmy still not around to comment.

Excellent for Tim, excellent for the team.

Not meaning to bag Christie but he is not really good enough to play the holding midfielder role. Especially when our midfield will be under the pump during the WC.

This will give the lads a big boost as he is a vital part of the team off the field as well. If he flys out tomorrow he should be there by Saturday.....does this mean he could be fit for Slovakia?

Oh, I am so looking forward to seeing what Chris Rat Poo of the Herald will have to say about this if Timmeh does rejoin the squad. (And he can at least watch the games and give moral support, if worst comes to worst.)

That's very good news overall - although I hope he's not pushing himself too far too fast and potentially make things more difficult for himself further down the line.el grapadura2010-06-09 21:27:28

this is exactly what I was thinking.  I cannot get this picture out of my head when I heard the news

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite

At least he gets to be part of the whole adventure which is great for him personally. Ricki thinks so highly of him that if his fitness is OK he will almost certainly get some game time.
Fingers crossed anyway.

A 3/4 fit Brown is better than a fully fit Christie (no offense Plodder)

Hate to rain on the parade but the injury still can't be 100%. What happens if he f**ks it in very short order? I suppose we just go back to Plodder. Would feel for Peverley then if that was the case. Its going to be tough on someone no matter what way it goes.

Stoked that he can be there, fully deserved after all his effort before the injury.
