Priza money last WC, 8 million dollars, for just being there. ¿Not enough to fight tothh and nail for it, either on the pitch (miracle level performance) or off the pitch (having your day in court)?

So pissed off I have a must-attend training tonight. :( Should be home for the last 20 minutes or so and I expect to see Marco already on the scoresheet.

I dont believe any NZ football team would train during this game, certainly not in Wellington???

Auckland City will be. They are better than everyone. They are the 5th best team in the world.

Seriously, go away. You've contributed nothing other than repeating your same spammy message 5 times. You wont be here in a weeks time so leave now.

Come on lads - sing loud and give the Mexicans hell!

The wall of sound from the Azteca was impressive so let's show them this turf is hostile...not an easy day out.

He's making a fair and well constructed point - you're the only one having a go at him for it. If you disagree then just disagree and let it lie, without the unnecessary abuse.

A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB: It's been suggested modifying the Westpac Stadium to give the All Whites a chance tonight.

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM JIMMY CLIFF:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSWvhhu24YA

Rome was not built in a day
Opposition will come your way
But the hotter the battle you see
It's the sweeter the victory, now

You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
You can get it if you really want
But you must try, try and try
Try and try, you'll succeed at last
Look here

Persecution you must bear
Win or lose you've got to get your share
Got your mind set on a dream
You can get it, though harder they seem now

GO ALL WHITES !!!

Like the look of the side just named - no dead wood like before (a metaphor - no ref to our beloved Leicester striker), more attacking.

I remember the All Whites World Cup qualifier v Australia in Auckland in 1989 when we were out of the reckoning in a group with Australia & Israel. John Adshead's team had lost 4-1 in Sydney. So only a small crowd of a couple of thousand turned up - and the game was bizarrely played as a curtain-raiser before an All Blacks test. Australia thought qualifying for the next round was a formality - but boy, did they get a surprise that day! The All Whites outplayed them and won 2-0 knocking Australia out of the World Cup!

Ricki Herbert played that day, as did De Jong & AW's goalkeeping coach Gosling: New Zealand Line Up: Clint Gosling, Ricky Herbert, Garry Lund, Malcolm Dunford (Tony Levy 79'), Tommy Mason, Noel Barkley (Danny Halligan 74'), Robert Ironside, Michael Ridenton, Billy Wright, Fred De Jong, Darren McClennan. Goals : Dunford 19' Wright 80'

You can find the complete game on You Tube under "Socceroos Video Archive."

nah tend to agree with Jeff. The discussion isn't being had- it's just one point being hammered over and over. Once yes...but. Also it doesn't have a lot to do with the game today so it's in the wrong thread. This is a game thread not a court thread.

Well if there's something good to come out of last week's it's that I don't have that sickly nervous feeling I had heading to the Cake Tin four years ago.

Pleasantly relaxed.

Wow!! People are leaving it late to get into the stadium - just saw on TV 3 News - looks like thousnds waiting to get in 5 mins before kick-off.

Guess that unfortunately most people don't follow football closely and so didn't realise the kick-off was brought forward to 7  pm

ANYWAYS -GO THE ALL WHITES !!! GOALS GOALS GOALS (TO US PLEASE THIS TIME!!!!)

Filthy tackle with a leading elbow earns Mexico a first yellow.
