No I own to being naive and not knowing when the final lock off is. I would have thought that leaving things up to the last 2hours pre-game wd just keep many of the players nervous/hopeful/desperate they get picked and that knowing the day before that they aren't running on wd at least settle the team down

And I have another blonde question. If someone in this 23 gets injured right up until they fly out can a replacement be made?

Players would know the team, just not the media.....
And yeah a replacement can be done.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Mullidan said on radio he wants to play in midfield. So his selection must mean he's good enough, even though he hasnt played all season. Thats my point!! Rubbish!!

Ricki keeps saying over and over again that he backs Mully, and the only reason he didn't play for the Phoenix is that Manny Muscat and Tim Brown were better. I don't find this ridiculous, esp. after having seen Mully in the flesh yesterday. He wasn't perfect but he was good.

Not everyone on this site has been addicted to football since their first breath. Thats part of whats great about the NIX. That they have opened football up to those like me who never really had an interest before

And this site and the people on it are 'mostly' welcoming and happy to educate newbs so we keep our interest up and both the NIX and the All Whites get more and more support.

Your attitude discourages new football fans frm asking question so they stumble along and might lose interest which is never a good thing for the sport you supposedly are a fan of

the advice  could be :  get   some  games  from  old world  cups  to get the feeling of the BEAUTIFUL  GAME !!!

the off-side  rule,  that  are  the questions  that  most  girls ask  everywhere where  football  rules  in argentina, in ireland,  in iceland,  in japan  and  soon in  nz  as well...football  is  like  a religion  and  the world cup is the ultimate  stage.....ASK  ROY KEANE  ABOUT  HIS LIFETIME  REGRET...HE COULD HAVE  WON IT FOR IRELAND IN  KOREA & JAPAN.... anything...ANYTHING  can happen in football  that is why  the call it  THE KING OF  SPORTS

Wingbacks, wingers and wide players = Leo and Lochy

Does this mean no to the 442? May we be looking at a 352 or a 343? It would perhaps make a bit more sense with our squads strengths. Or is Ricki gambling that Reid will play rightback? It seemed from the trial they were considering playing two defensive midfielders with Clapham/McG further forward...

edit:ok and potentially Brockie. And I thought he didn't impress too  much and it was Brockie 0 Jason Hayne 2, even though he did pop up to put away Smeltz's parried shot.

From what I've seen of McGlinchey lately he's been poor.  I'd put Brockie or even potentially Clapham in ahead of him, playing slightly further up the park.

It'll be 3-5-2 in my mind. Ricki alluded to this as well (baring injury).

Its no longer a problem.

yes that is the idea  herbert  plus turner and argie blanco are having

to release  free an old-fashioned  flair  number  10,  behind the 2 strikers  to  move  all over the park....Mc G  is the player for the task  beacuse  of speed and  tricks

The problem with this is that we get under a bit of pressure (read: playing against Italy) and this quickly morphs into 5-3-2.

Didn't he come on with his side 6-2 down, and by the end of the game it was 6-6? Not necessarily all him but.

And how much SPL do you watch anyways? How many Motherwell games?

Well, it really is a 5-3-2, only it sounds better when you try to package it as a 3-5-2.

I actually still think Moss should have missed out. He shouldn't have sworn at the ref, he did it and he should miss the world cup because of it. (feel free to shoot me down)

im not sure how McGlinchy has been playing, so you may be right in sayign he's been playing average,
however i think he's got the ability to add a real attacking threat from the centre of the park, which is something we are quite often lacking, and results in our strickers becoming isolated then having to drop deep to even see the ball.
I'd love to see us take it to Slovakia and others as opposed to sitting back and trying to score on the counter attack

I disagree for a number of reasons. Firstly, I hope everyone agrees that at this point, Moss and Paston are far and away our top keepers, with Bannatyne and Spoonley quite a way back. With that established, and the fact that a keeper can be brought into the squad practically straight away for an injury, you surely take Moss.

Even if you couldn't, I would still take him. The game we are most likely to need a 3rd keeper would be the 3rd game - it's unlikely we would need to go that deep in earlier games, so it makes sense to have (arguably) your best keeper available for that possibility. If Paston and Bannatyne got suspended or injured for the 3rd game, and we had to go into the game starting Spoonley when we could have had Moss heads would (and should) roll.

I see no-one from Karori Turtles made the grade and based on our performance on Saturday I could see why. Maybe next World Cup Ricki?

I'd agree with that but also say that unless he's injured or playing like sh*te, Paston should play all 3 games.
