Really enjoying having the ASBP on telly. Its nice to be able to sit down on a Thursday and Sunday night and watch some local football. Really rate Piney and Glen Lamars commentary and even NZ Football weekly is getting better

Wee Nix leading 4 3 -0 against Hawkes Bay 41 mins in

The WeeNix are probably the most unpredictable side in the ASBP

Rosario Central, the All Whites, Waitakere United and the mighty Phoenix! speaker of engrish

How the hell are HBU second in the league and how did they take points of ACFC. They are poor right across the park and boy do I mean poor, but good on the youth team from Wellington the two Aussie boys look average though and to think they are fulltime pro's

2-5 now to wee nix.  Penalty just scored by Stevens

Can't take your eyes off this one, HB score from a free kick 3-5.  Nix down to 10 men after Dylan Fox got his 2nd yellow card.

Sam Mason-Smith makes it 5-4, Nix still ahead by 1.  Fantastic game this

5-4. Most mental game i have watched in a long time. Hamish Watson heavily involved in all 4 of HB's goals as a substitute..

Absolutely nuts, 5-5 it finishes

1st half like Brazil. 2nd half like Tonga.

Not sure Danaskos is a centre back and so far Evans has been better than Fox in the games I have seen.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Next game is Waitak v HBU at QBE Stadium, be interesting to see if they are still painting the ground green!

Anyone else think Sam Mason-Smith looks a lot like Hamish Watson?

Congrats Waitak, good win. Could have been a few more, at both ends.

You say it like you have only just realised that this is the standard of our league. Sunday's 10 goal game might have been entertaining but with crap keeping and shark defending conceding at both ends, don't sit there and say it's a high quality football league.

BREAKING NEWS: amateur football league is of amateur quality.

Allegedly

It's not so much that, it's that people build it to be more than it is. Some games can be entertaining but not because it's good football. In pretty much 99% of cases, it's crap football and the entertainment is a bonus.

10 years ago, in the 1st season, it was better than this from a quality of football perspective. You get the players telling you it gets better every year in the media but your own eyes should tell you it does not.

I think there is a perception - across all eras - of greater spectator enjoyment when attacking players have an edge over defenders.

At the moment it appears to me like there is a dearth of competent central defenders, which is abetting that perception.

You are correct though, just as we don't judge the quality of a book by how many chapters it has, we shouldn't judge match quality by the number of goals.

However goals are, erm, the goal. Goals are the orgasms of football.

My favourite era as a fan was 1992, no coincidence that my team was setting goalscoring records in the national league.

More rubbish football. Teams get offered chances and can't take them. 3 touches and possession changes and a ref who can't spot a blindingly obvious penalty on Jones.

This is not a good advert for football in NZ.

My expectations or perhaps the way others talk it up?

My two cents.

As long as the football has tempo and passion I'm not worried about quality too much.

I would rather a game with a turnover rate with some bite than a game where both teams complete 80% passing at a low slow tempo... Snooze..

Don't watch a Pep side any time soon then.

At their peak they were not slow though, tempo was good, passing was flowing and movement was quick.
