Nelson Falcons beat Ole Academy 7-3 in a preseason game today. They also played Canterbury United twice, think the first game was 2-2 but not sure of the next.

anybody know bout TW  youth squad yet?

From Ole facebook page:
Big thanks to ASB youth teams Canterbury United and Nelson Falcons for inviting us down to the South island for games this past weekend. The boys were able to beat a quality side in Canterbury 2-1 and lost a tough match to Nelson 7-3. WIth the average age of the Ole squad being just 15.6 years old the future is looking bright!

Kotahitanga. We are one.

No all quiet - must release something soon as Heartland  must pick from the rest. If not already been at the TWY trials.

Some of last years squad will be too old I think.
TW haven't officially released anything on their website yet

Nelson Falcons looking very young this year. A 14 year old is the youngest member. Oddly there are four goal keepers in the squad.

I don't know a lot about waibop youth but I have seen the Cambridge school team play a few times and thought Reid Drake and Ruben Parker-Hanks were stand outs. I think Cambridge were top four at nationals

Fuck this stupid game

At risk of sounding like an old man, there are some shocking haircuts amongst this lot...

Some good players amongst there, Drake, Molony, Hilliar and Probert will all go well if they aren't involved with the seniors, Boss is a very good player, Krystman has some publicity too, and Towers is still in Year 12 but is a top notch keeper.

Think they'll be more competitive than previous incarceration, but doubt they'll be able to do too much damage against the usual Auckland powerhouses - some of the players who were going to play are either involved with the top side or injured/overseas.

N-Bomb do you not rate Parker-Hanks? He's not the tallest but very athletic and hard to beat.

Fuck this stupid game

To be honest I've never seen him play. I've only seen guys who've played at northern league club level or who play for my school, so a lad from Cambridge often goes under my radar. I'll try get out to a youth game at some stage and check it out, otherwise I'll have to wait until NRFL season.

Interesting, Jarrod said he was looking to find a team in Auckland after moving their to play for Waitak, Birko would be a good fit.

What position does Rueben play?

I know Jarrod is a mid fielder.

Jarrod can also play right back, very good player. I think he'll be the only one who cracks Birko's game-day squad on a regular basis.
