Omar might be a good fit at Olympic I reckon - thinking a young Abba, but can also get his head up and look around from time to time :)

Omar gets 1 game suspension instead of 3 due to ref putting the wrong red card reason...

So Nelson must be almost sorted for top spot then? How many more points do they need to be certain finalists?

Permalink Permalink

Canty won so I think Nelson still need 1 point from remaining games.

"rural Superstars"  what a cheeky f*cker Smithy! Against his peers from those towering urban centres of Welli and Chch Omar ripped it up.  He's a young, interesting, talented player - he might progress, he might not.  Where he's from at this stage of his career has f*k all to with it one would have imagined....

Omar to Wairarapa United?

Falcons have rested a lot of guys, probably see the next home game as the chance to seal the final spot rather than getting points this weekend.

Nelson beat Welly 2-0, to wrap up southern conference with games to spare.

8 wins from 8 games, not bad for little old Nelson (and Marlborough)

Wgtn dommed them to be fair. Saved pen and the follow up by Turipa. Nelson's goals were pretty jammy.

From the BBQ Nelson played like a team. TW had a great defensive team but to many individuals up front.

Well done Nelson on a great season. Hope you do well in the final.

Nelson have had a good run at this competition. They're well organised and resourced and have a good volunteer base. All that stuff helps on-field performance.

Yeah I got that impression. Didn't seem to have much quality though so surprising - though did they rest players.
Clayton Lewis it outstanding btw

Interesting that the players who are of interest to the Phoenix (Watson, Gulley, Lewis) aren't of any interest to Team Wellington...

Lewis was the obvious standout when TW played in Nelson too.

TW youth by far the best technically profecient team in the southern thingy.  But, TW youth seemed very disjointed, distracted and poorly coached to me.  There should be no excuses with that player base one would have thought.....

Seems like this season reinforced the old adage a good team will always beat a collection of individuals (or words to that effect).

Never heard of Lewis before, how old is he and is he?

Bit unfair ...perhaps if the AFC/WU only play 11 players at a time , it'd be fairer  , still them's the official rules I take it  ?

The infighting between the 22 AFC/WU players on the park will counter the numbers advantage over Nelson, I would have thought.lol

The official rules state that the team that tops the Northern Conference shall  progress to Final that Team has not been decided yet hence the bracketing of Auckland City and Waitakere
pretty simple really......

Good luck to both ACFC and WU in (is it) the last game of the round robin, before one will be taking on the Falcons in Nelson.

2 rounds to play Waitakere need huge win to have any chance of making the Final, A draw will suffice for Auckland
