is anyone more informed that me able to fill us in on what the story is there?

is he any good?

Hit the wall now going backwards.

Possibly but always no2 behind Feneridis no matter who's in form due to influences of field. Can't remember when I last saw him play or warm the bench.

Also for someone who looks strong is prone to injury.

McGeorge needs game time so he'd be far better off playing State league as he's not likely to play very much, if at all, this season.

The thing is, he would make a huge difference in the midfield in a WaiBOP side and play every week.

This. I honestly don't know why more people don't make the trip South for more gametime. Maybe he'll be a midseason transfer?

Ramon using the WaiBOP game this weekend to make final selection for Morocco squad. Full-on commitment expected.

you honestly don't get the point yet?

it's is a bit of a tricky one but the point is how many kiwi players (that are eligable to play for NZ) are Auckland City helping through the system?

yes the ASB needs a strong team in the CWC but do we need as many non-kiwi's there as you have?  that is the point..

No I don't get it - if Auckland put together a mediocre side based on mediocre NZ players then tell me how that helps NZ football long term? The answer is fuck all. If, however, Auckland put together a decent squad with a mix of NZers and foreigners then it give NZ youngsters something decent to aspire to. It also reasonably represents the football playing population of Auckland. I'm not an NZ citizen but I have lived in Auckland for the vast majority of my adult life and if I was good enough to play for Auckland I would jump at the chance and feel proud to represent MY city.

Sam Malcolmson and Michael McGlinchey have represented NZ but talk like me. Steve Sumner and Tommy Smith also yet they talk like Englishmen. Chopah - who in your 1950's Truman Show world should be allowed to play for ACFC or, for that matter, NZ?

I'm speculating here, but I'd say the majority of the population of Auckland was not born here so do you exclude them form playing or do you take an exact representation of the population and have 35% Asian player, 15% PI etc, etc? Get out of dreamland.

And before anyone picks me up on percentages, I've plucked them out my head.

Exactly - Darth Vader and Slasher are clutching at anti ACFC straws which is simply serving to hold NZ football back.

correct me if I am wrong but hasn't David Browne played for PNG?  therefore it's great he is becoming a citizen but that still makes him not able to represent the All Whites.

it's not about being born here - it's about promoting players into the All Whites - dosn't matter what colour or what accent they have - this is not a race thing - this is NZ's biggest semi-pro/amateur club promoting guys who can play for NZ - not 30+ year olds who can't...

Represented PNG at Under-17 level. Didn't Rory Fallon rep England at junior age group level then go on to play senior internationals for NZ? Or am I thinking of someone else?

ACFC want to win a game or two at the World Club Cup. Actually, most of these 'imports' as you call them approached ACFC of their own free will, wanting to come to Auckland for the lifestyle - Riera, Berlanga, being two - and to play for a team that would be playing the in the WCC before a world TV audience.

Hey, I'm a proud Cantabrian - but not afraid to admit I was born in Auckland - and of Dutch & Welsh/English parents!

My memories are of Auckland being  areal melting pot back in the 60's and 70's. Have always been back there over the decades.

My earliest memories are of Pacific Island neighbours and Italian neighbours (the mother was always shouting "Luigi! Luigi!" and the Italian girl next door was really cute -we ran away together when she was five and I was four but a neighbour brought us back).

So, I say good luck to Auckland for recruiting as strong a team as possible from any nationalities. If locally-born players are good enough, they'll still make the team.

Wow! Tribulietx has scored some primo build-up with a training camp in Barcelona - and a friendly against La Liga side Espanyol, second biggest club in Barcelona - fantastic stuff!!!!

http://www.asbpremiership.co.nz/index.php?id=28&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=2057&tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=3&cHash=90676dcb4e

"The Oceania champions also play a glamour friendly with La Liga outfit Espanyol at a Barcelona training camp just prior to heading to Morocco, a game that means a lot to Tribulietx, a Catalonian.

“In some ways it’s a dream come true to take our club back to my home town but it will be very difficult. Espanyol will be a mixture of first, B-team and youth players,” he said.

you sidestepped my question - I raised the possibility of some of the imports being no or not much better than kiwi lads - so is the approach imports for imports sake - if two players are at the same level isn't there some moral consideration ACFC must apply which means taking the Kiwi (or for clarity, the player who whilst might not be kiwi he is able to play for NZ or will be able to play for NZ in the near future).

yeah fair enough - it does have longer term issues, especially if we want a stronger league in the future we have to provide a pathway for young NZ eligible players.
to confirm my stance - I don't think ACFC are doing anything wrong - they are within the rules and I wish them all the best at the CWC - I just wonder sometimes if they don't bother looking at local players much and find it easier to grab and import, and of course there is a steady line of them like Ali said who want to go to a Club World Cup.
