When is the CWC game being played? Are they showing it at Kiwitea St?

Unfortunately the game is live on Sommet sports freeview at 8.30am on the 12th and I can't find any pub/café with this service. A great shame it's not on Sky.

Raja Casablanca have just appointed a new coach due to poor performance by the team in league play this season. Sure to have some effect either way.

I'd imagine this is not good news for Auckland as it seems to me new coaches normally start with an impact.

I like the fact Casablanca haven't been performing well this season, even a new coach can't turn that around straight away. Hopefully ACFC can get past them and into the CWC proper. If they do their next game is against Monterrey. Fingers crossed Ali. Three wins from playing the European champions! Imagine????Little ACFC Club World Cup champions....All complaints about knitting circles, boasting, imports, Figjams and Jaffas on a postcard to JV please.

I expect it in the form of a knitting pattern thanks :o)

Crikey, get a grip JV, this is almost humour. Get back on the gin.

I was being humorous. See the smiley face

What's the bet Ramon returns to NZ with another half dozen Spanish journeymen in the bag? Just to annoy Vader.

correct me if I am wrong but hasn't David Browne played for PNG?  therefore it's great he is becoming a citizen but that still makes him not able to represent the All Whites.

Represented PNG at Under-17 level. Didn't Rory Fallon rep England at junior age group level then go on to play senior internationals for NZ? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I meant senior level - wasn't sure if he had or hadn't.  So has he decided on who he will play for since he is still eligible for both.

You can safely bet he'll be an All White one day soon.

FIFA rules state a player must be eligible to represent the country they want to play for (in this case NZ) at the time they played age group football for another country.
Hinges on this issue. Was David Browne eligible to represent NZ when he played for PNG u-17's?
Probably not....would need to have a NZ parent or grandparent or have had NZ citizenship himself at the time.
Rory Fallon was eligible to represent NZ when he played age group football for England (in fact he was in NZ u-17 squads for friendlies before switching to England).
Similarly, Michael McGlinchey was eligible to represent NZ when he played age group football for Scotland due to having been born here.

How would Andrew Durante have been eligible to play for NZ at the time he was in the Socceroos squad?

I've heard that David Browne may be fast-tracked to NZ citizenship to be eligible for the All Whites Under 20 squad in the 2015 Under 20 World Cup in NZ. Would be a coup if we could get him. He has been living in NZ since 2011.

Durante had not played for Australia so in essence was not tied to them. Browne played for PNG. The key question is, at the time he played for PNG (just like Lia for Australia), did have FIFA eligibilty through what ever channel to play for NZ? He had to have that dual nationality. I think even getting his citizenship now would stop that still (and I would like to be wrong)

ACFC squad now staying in Agadir at their base,  the Robinson Club (where their opponents Raja Casablanca are also based!) - see latest post on www.aucklandcityfc.com

According to TripAdvisor, the staff at the Robinson Club are fluent in French & German (but not much else), and diners at the resort's buffet restaurant are entertained by the hotel violinist playing from his fixed repertoire of 5 tunes, favourite being Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World.

Have fun guys.

If he was eligible (and he isn't) this still wouldn't work as FIFA regulations require 5-years' residence for eligibility.

Awesome Quotes from Casablanca

It is? For some reason I thought it was Casablanca and when I started to type it into google search 'casablana' came up as a suggested autofill. So took that as confirmation.
Regardless, I'll be watching the game.

I've actually been nightclubbing in Agadir.

Was shit.

It's amazing how having police carrying sub-machine guns in a club will kill the atmosphere.

There's nothing like a sub-machine gun poked in your chest and a photo shoved in your face, to, a) make you put down your burger and b) make you realise that all answers are 'no' as in I have never seen that man before.  And if you consider saying yes, realising that you are in for a beating or the guy they're after is going to do something twice as nasty to you.

We've got 'the Godfather' to give them the eyeball. And then to let Dicko off the leash.

Wasn't too many women there at all actually. The locals weren't allowed to drink and they would only sell us tourists a bottle of whiskey.  So we're drinking the whiskey watched by four cops with machine guns who are making sure none of the locals have a drink. Plus, the music wasn't very good.
