One kiwi out Two more foreigners in, I thought NZ Football had put a restrictions on how many foreign imports you were allowed in your squad. One may argue what are the doing for the development of Kiwi boys.

Isn't getting two kiwi's careers restarted development? any kiwi that gets a pro contract after playing for ACFC for a season must be more developed than when they went in.

Is Development only for young players coming through from grass roots?

Anyone got stats for all Franchises who kiwi boys have signed pro contracts directly after playing for them? Be an interesting comparison on how all the franchises "develop" kiwi lads

Boo to the Halbergs! ACFC miss out to the rowers!

I wonder how many people tuned into their final vs the semi that acfc played in?

OFC Champions League has no restriction on foreign players so my guess is they are recruiting for that.

I think Auckland City's real opportunity was in the people's choice award and unfortunately Brendon McCullum's 300 runs also captured the nation's attention.

..next best chance was in coach of the year and it's ridiculous Ramon wasn't even a finalist for that.

whether we like it or not all the finalists for those awards deserve to be there - they are all winners in their own right.

It sucks when our sport doesn't win but I don't think not winning that kind of award diminishes the scale of achievement any.

Ramon should of been there - that's an oversight!

Good call Jerzy,  no2 ground would be a nice ground for an A league team bit far from the airport for Ramon though.

Oh yeah I had heard that. Is that a council development? Ie are we as taxpayers finding a development that will go to a private company to use?

Nixon is going to be a full natural grass rugby field with half an artificial. Not sure but I doubt it'll be tax payer funded. Don't quote me on that though.

Fuck this stupid game

I thought Team Wellington were rather poor today. Auckland City turned up to play and left TW running in circles chasing them. TW were rather ambitious playing with effectively 4 strikers (Ifill, Smith, Gwyther and Corrales) which backfired as they had no midfield. In the end, the TW back 4 just by passed the midfield straight to Ifill which was just a complete waste. He was very much a passenger and shadow of his former self. He does not have a pro career a head of him I'm sorry. He has the touch but he has nothing else.

I thought the officials left a little to be desired. I am sure there was a foul inside the box from my elevation which would be a penalty to ACFC but gave it outside. I thought the ACFC 20 should have been yellow carded after his 30 odd fouls and Corrales was just poison as all he did was fight with his team mates. There was also an all in where somehow, no one got a card.

ACFC played some lovely football at times - the 2nd goal is one of the best free kicks you will ever see. Also hilarious was Feneridis telling Ramon to fudge off quite loudly. Obviously they are not friends anymore.

Auckland have found their form again and played some of the best football I have seen them play for a while.

Out of curiosity are any of the foreign players for ACFC eligible for the all whites or will any ever be ?

If you can't make it to Cambridge here's how you can follow this evening's game against WaiBOP.

City now 7 points clear after tonight's 2-0 win over WaiBop in Cambridge goals to David Browne and Sam Burfoot. A win in any of the remaining 3 fixtures will secure them the Minor Premiership.

For what its worth I was happy that the phoenix had a reserve team in the league. It boosted the number of games and, hopefully, increased croud numbers but.......today was a farce! If they are going to enter a team in the league it has to be serious and not a bunch of kids. If I was a phoenix supporter that had made an effort to be at the game hoping to watch my team make a playoff spot I would be absolutely gutted at their performance and the fact that they (the club) don't seem to care!

You do know that a few of the better players are away with the first team/injured? Rufer , Stevens , Ridenton , JBS , Boyd and Appiah would most likely have played otherwise

Permalink Permalink

Over 2 seasons, Wanderers have not been pumped like that.  Against ACFC, scores have been, 2-1, 1-0, 3-1 and 1-0 no where near the 10-0 predicted by a regular YF forum contributor before the first season started.

They have been serious. Unfortunately was a combination of coming up against the best sign, injury decimating the top team so they had noone to come down, and Phoenix having an away game. Exeption. Not the rule.

Think Appiah played. It is supposed to be a reserve team. So take out the five mentioned and they should still have a resemblance of a good team. Are you seriously making excuses? ACFC are very very good but not that good!
