People are saying it's for the keeper - and even though he looks pretty legit in the pic- its more likely given the ref didn't look like he saw encroachment judging by the video (he played on for a fair bit).
Fair chance someone was encroaching out of shot - but if you watch the replay it doesn't make sense that he would call it so late

It's for the keeper off his line. Which he was marginally. We had a go pro on that goal and have slowed the footage down and he is off his line early.

yes it was for the keeper which is why he got a yellow card.
The annoying thing is that pretty much every keeper comes off their line early for a penalty but very very few get punished
the yellow card was for arguing with the referee about the retake before the 2nd pen was taken.
I have video I will see if I can get a link.
here is the video - in real time it's hard to tell but there is a slowed down version after the real time version has played out.

I think the lino is right - that little jump forward before it's kicked. But yeah, just another rule that needs to be enforced consistently.

I understood that it was an automatic yellow card if the keeper is off his line when a penalty is taken but thats neither here nor there to be honest. He did nothing different to any other keeper in the country. Ollie Sail saved a pen at the weekend and I will bet every penny I have (which is not a lot to be honest) that he was technically off his line when it was taken. They all jump forward as the players strikes the ball and are coached to do so
Interesting. Mario was with Eastern at the start of the season and couldn't get a start, actually overheard him talking and he seemed to be sulking about it more than anything. I personally quite like him as a player.
ACFC struggling with their NZ squad quota had to leave Darren White out of squad today to keep other non kiwis happy and meeting their match day kiwi quota. Fast becoming a joke. NZ football need to act on this.

Not the only sinners
correct but far ahead of the rest at not giving a toss about about kiwi players its fast becoming a joke, can you blame young kiwi's players going on holiday
that is unfair on Hawkes Bay, they are in drastically different financial situations and there is a huge difference between the amount of money ACFC spend on their foreign players compared to HB taking what players they can get who fit into their budget. ACFC have the luxury of picking the best kiwi players, they choose not to and HB doesn't have that luxury.
Can someone tell me why NZ Football doesn't put import restrictions along the same lines as the A League that would solve this endless debate and make sides like ACFC field more kiwi's (five imports match day squads) Then the likes of ACFC can still spend big on the best Kiwi's and still get to the WCC and then play whoever they like. No Ramon and the two Ivan's don't think like that.

I think 5 imports is very few. They should reduce the quota though. As NZF says the SSP should be the league 'where all whites are made'.

I honestly don't care about the non-kiwi's thing - i think plenty of kiwi's are getting a shot and the foreigner's are generally quite good and bring a bit of character and intrigue to the league which is awesome. I would like to see a slow migration from the current rules to A-League rules over the next say 2-3 seasons, possibly longer.
The product has to be good and this year i think we are seeing a massive improvement in said product and that's awesome.
Double edged sword, probably need the higher number of imports to qualify and play in Club WC and that is a cash cow for both them and NZF.
Don't Southern have five Irish imports? Its not a big deal to me if nearly half the SSports players are not eligible for the AW's. Though I do see why some people would have an issue with it. Plenty of young kiwis get a chance through the Nix B side. I guess you would hope that all the kids aspiring to get into the U20 side would be seeing regular SSports action
I saw the Nelson vs Auckland City match last weekend. Nelson's goal to draw the match in injury time was scored by an Argentinian. There were quite a few South Americans in the stand. It was like he'd scored a World cup goal....all great fun. There were a couple of Argies down from Auckland to trial with Nelson...both defenders. Nelson could do with them. Auckland citys AW Clayton ??was on the bench.....Hudson would not be amused.
The imports add to the colour of the competition...and to the quality. I would love to see Auckland citys books to see how they fund their recruiting

OK... no problem with that....why doesnt all the clubs do it?

Lots of Auk clubs do.

There's no good reason for a NZ side to have 10 foreigners on their books, as HBU do. (AC have 13)
I would be interested in the stats to find out how many each team has.
When you can only play 8 and its weekly games, you are paying 5 guys to sit out and do nothing. Thats a huge waste of money.
I woulda thought ACFC was 11, not 13 but an interested anyway.

the paying them is not relevant - some may not being paid - some of the kiwi's left out may be getting paid to do nothing - it's just squad depth
Seems ACFC have replaced Aus U23 at this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Lunar_New_Year_...
Would need a resceduling of some SSP games

Quite interesting to see what level of funding ACFC and Central United receive from their major sponsor for the period 1/08/2015 to 31/07/2016
Auckland City FC $607,165.00
Central United $424,205.00
What is a shame, is reading who some of the organisations are, whose funding applications were declined for the same period.

If it was $300k, well then I would not have too much of an issue with that but an amateur football club that takes $1m in grant funding that could go to better causes (on top of their slice of the CWC fund). It is a shame.

Looking at Trillian trust funding for December
$232940 was paid to football as best I can see (clubs preparing for 2017 season)
$ 75530 went to ACFC approx 30% (Club covering 2016/17 SSP and OFC Champs league)
$ 51105 Central got can not be paid to ACFC
looks fair

Auckland City not the same team as in the past not dominating like they have in the past.Teams have worked them out, the imports just don't look interested and spend a lot of the the time moaning Tade and Kim the worst and the Kiwi boys in the squad not up to much either.Lewis on the Bench sums it up Ramon's time may have run its course Bring on Ivan but i doubt things would change when it comes to Imports V Kiwi's

Oh dear
I've watched Tade once at Kiwitea this year and he does a hell of a lot of whinging at everything in general.
