Come on Vim. You and Karl Numan can sit next to each other in the stands.

Oh wow you saw all that? Classic!

It would be a fun trip but too much cost I reckon.

Just had my own run-ins with him as a Suburbs supporter. But all good now, he's actually a nice guy when you get to know him.
Hope we get a good crowd so we make it an annual thing.

Yer good luck with that. If I was like the others on this forum I would go on like "it's our team why are they playing outside the area" but it's all good.

Well technically, Nelson is part of the Mainland Federation in which Canterbury represents. Complete different to Wellington Phoenix playing in Christchurch.

Yer but we worked so hard getting behind the team and made it our own.......

I'm taking the piss.

That's it, I demand Mainland Football fork out for travel and accomodation costs!

And if anyone is going to the game this wknd, check out the mighty Coastal Spirit in the half-time kick round and doing the organising. Almost a home game for us!

Vim, you could always use the reduntant "Suck on this Numan!!" banner as a blanket to save on accomodation costs
And I'm sure he would shout you a pie and a pint, huge savings everywhere.

Auckland 2-1. Both teams down to 10 men after double yellow send offs. Wasn't too pretty to watch.

VimFuego i take it you were at the game today. What was the spanish lad upfront for Auckland like despite his sending off? apparently he has played for barcalona before. Any standouts from either side? what was Clapham like against quality opposition?

@Roger - Yes he looked good going forward, few turns and sidesteps keeping Canty fullbacks on their toes. Clapham looks good too just gives away too many passes for my liking. Great on the ball.

@Gooner - Yes a tenner is way to expensive I agree. Didn't stop people paying it however there seemed to be heaps there.

First time I've been able to watch Canterbury this season. Was intending to travel to Nelson to watch next week's game. On yesterday's performance, I won't bother.

Richmond Athletic have signed Ben Wright who was playing for League Two signed Macclesfield Town just last year. Only 30 years-old and has scored against Europa League side Europa League side Chelsea before for Viking FK in the UEFA Cup. Not sure if he will stay around Nelson, his friend Joe Green from Richmond went back to England in the offseason before coming back, but Ben could be available for Canterbury selection next season if he sticks round.

Without Aaron Clapham, that Canterbury side is so slow. The defense was just terrible today. So many times Dan Terris decided to dribble the ball up the field but just got it stolen off him. Kosta's brother was absolutely tearing up in the first half. I can't see how Gagame doesn't start.

Ha ha Canterbury won't be so lucky, would be the last club he would play for in the National League

I know right. Lives in Nelson, makes it the obvious choice. But to say someone would rather play for Otago United just makes me laugh.

Perhaps a reference to Richmond's blockbuster signing from the previous page. That's how I read it.

Still make no sense however.

I thought that, but then I thought that after the cautionary tales of Suri, Menapi, Totori, Rande, Abba, Fifii all being hyped as world beaters I thought no one would be foolish enough to do it again.

I'm afraid that even with Clapham they are still pretty slow when going forward.  They have struggled to create chances in all of the home games i've been to and will need to improve to make the top 4.  At least they managed to keep 11 men on the field today

Why did Ryan Faichnie get subbed for Feni in the Wellington game at Nelson. He was Canterbury's best player while on the park and the only one that had given TW a problem.
Should have taken Collins off for Feni and played both Fs out wide with Barton behind Kamo, could have then got Overton on for Barton if needed.
Can anyone come up with a reason other then KB has his subs and at what time sorted at Thursday trainings.

Had a mate at the game who said Gagame Feni completely outclassed HB, just couldn't finish. Bout time the NZ age grade selectors look at him.

Too much of the English way of playing and flair players are not on the top of the wanted list. Read that as Big, Strong and Hoof it.

Feni is still young and a bit of work is needed on his first touch control then on when to pass and when to go for goal via a run or a shot.
He comes across as a nice kid willing to put in the effort.
I think his team mates have still not got used to when he will do what, hence they don't get in a good position for either.

Which one was he? Number 9? no one outclassed HB, was a pretty even game actually. If Jarrod Smith had scored with his first sitter, he would have been MOM.

Gagame Feni is number 12. A young Solomon Islander.

Oh yeah, I recall seeing him now. I didn't think he set the world on fire at all, good player but didn't show anything out of the ordinary IMO. Personally I like the dimension the Melanesians bring to the NZFC.

So apparently if Clapham gets on for the Phoenix tonight he has a 30 day stand down before he can play for Canty. Hmm... how do I want this to pan out? I know I know, good on him for getting the chance, but what a stupid rule in this instance!

If Herbert brings him on in the last 10 what a shocker for Canterbury.... May as well let him warm the bench for his forth game under Herbert....

To me it seems bizarre with a 23 man squad that they can bring in a ring-in from a lower league without having to sign him full stop. Do Mainland run the A League?

important win today over an admittedly poor Otago team
why did they sub their best player (#23)?
was he injured.

Coz Braithwaite is an idiot??
his route one game plan yesterday was ridiculous, with the wind howling and a small quick side, they should have run at the Otago lummoxes all avo.

I would have subbed Menapi first as well..he was fairly ineffectual IMO.

Clapham was way too deep as well..
