Trial teams for ASB premiership and NYL teams have been sorted and names doing the rounds at todays game.
Interesting to see who has made the ASB trials for defensive spots with Collins and Rowe not available.
In my opinion they may go with Terris at centre back and that's a mistake.

Highfield & Thomas are in the Gk spots at trials or at least being looked at. Coey is back home from Brisbane not sure who the other NYL keeper is.
Who is in goal for the Chch sof team in the PDL league? He must be in the lead spot if the selection process of the sof is reviewed each year to get the best players.

Full backs etc later.

Matt Thomas is leaving for Aussie shortly. What about Tom Batty?

Have you missed the left back. Expect it to be Wild.
Yes I think I'd heard that Matt Thomas was going but couldn't remember when.

Yea had Wortleboer in there but then shifted him to the bench and put Wild out there without updating the spot, my bad. Can't think of anyone else of note who would make it?
Possibly Overton if he is back from Otago Uni?Ronaldoknow2011-08-21 21:54:07

Trialists will be out for all to see on Sunday at 2pm.
Easy to pick that Shawn O'Brien & Ken Yamamoto will be in the senior squad as 2 of the 3 youth age spots.
I can't pick who's in line for the third spot yet, haven't seen enough of that age grade both club or should that be sof [pdl] and school football on at the same time as other coaching comitments.

Didn't see yesterday's trial decided Rolleston was a bit far when I could stay home and keep up to date with games in Palmy via this forum and on line thanks to Radio Sport.

I've heard not many of last seasons players took time out to turn up.
Terris, Barton and Batty did turn up.
Another game planned for Thursday night at a another venue.

Nelson's contribution to the U19 squad may be a bit small this year

Billy Scott - Gone to Wellington
Matt Shaw - Gone to England
Adam Smith - Gone to USA
Alex Ridsdale - Gone to Scotland
Coey Turipa - Gone to Australia, but could be back..

I had heard Otago were keen to sign Overton so left him out.
Swap him for Ryan Stewart who is going to play for Otago.Ronaldoknow2011-08-30 09:07:44

1) It's Braithwaite and 2) no need to be so angry.

Also I should be a capital and tears doesn't need a ' in it. timmymadden2011-08-30 20:23:29

Skippy not playing down South now since Fleming no longer the coach. Apparently Braithwaite not interested in him. Crazy.
So who's Overton playing for if not Otago or the Dragons?

Latest trial on Thursday night had Matt Thomas at left mid for the Red team.
Reds won 4-0 with Parker, Nichol and Nyomen at the back all having a good game for this team. AC played for Whites in first 30 min then switched to Red team.
Highfield in goal for the White team beaten 3 times in 2nd 30mins segment. NYL keeper in for AH in 3rd period.
The 3rd goal a Kamo volley with the 4th goal being the pick of them with AC tapping in a Kamo cross after a flowing move from goalkeepers throw out.

He was trialling with Waitakere. No Welbourn or Nicol or Mauricio Oliviera? Who is Gordon McDoanld? Dagan Bland?
And Blair Duncan, how did he make the cut?

Gordon MacDonald was pastor of Grace Chapel in Lexington, Massachusetts for 12 years. He left in 1984 to go with World Vision (a neo-evangelical, social gospel relief agency), and then became president of a college-age missions organization, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (another neo-evangelical, para-church, charismatic group). MacDonald also regularly teaches at Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the neo-evangelical Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in New England.

Dagan Bland ex Papatoetoe and currently at Halswell. No idea what position he plays, didn't stand out in the three Halswell games I saw this season, TimmyMadden might know more.

Word is the both Wellbourn and Nicol have decided to have a break over the summer so hence the no show on Sunday.

Asked about De Oliveira being 'missing' when watching and was told that as Bays played Dunedin Technical on Saturday they were not expected to turn out but Highfield, MacIntyre and Kamo were there.

There were several players from the Everton Academy on show as well, unsure of their names but several looked promising, one playing left back and scored from a corner.

Looks like Overton will be playing up north as now finished his studies and looking for work.

1: Matt Thomas, although he played in goal all season and with 2 other keepers in there it looks like he has been picked as a midfielder.
